Offline mode

Is it at ALL possible to play Plants vs Zombies (Garden Warfare) completely *OFFLINE*?  My wife bought this one while away on a trip, and I saw the note on the front saying "Online Play Required" (which seems pretty darned obvious to *me*), but just want to make one more check.  If it is online-only, we will be bringing it back to the store (it's still unopened) presuming she can find the receipt.  Seems to me if I've PAID for a game, I should be able to play it without having to pay yet MORE money just to use something I already paid for.

    Yea, sadly Garden Warfare 1 is completely online based material. If you bought the game for Xbox One or PS4, you may be able to access split-screen mode offline, but nothing further than that. Your stats doesn't save in split-screen mode, unless you're online.

    Fortunately, the next game, Garden Warfare 2, will be coming out with an all-new offline mode, filled with tons of new features, such as a story, private matches, and player hub.

    Well then, I guess the game is going back to Wallyfart.  Personally, I don't see the attraction of a game that requires you to continue paying for it over and over again.  Sure, buying an updated new release with newer gameplay (such as Disney Infinity), but to continue paying over and over again for the same exact game?  No thanks.  Thankfully, my *own* choice of games is more like Solitaire and Mahjongg.
