I am one of those annoying people who respawns mid-revive 😉
Half the time it is by accident. I wait a few seconds, no one comes to my rescue, so I respawn, but just as I do, someone starts reviving me. So it's an accidental respawn.
The rest of the time I do it intentionally, since someone is trying to revive me in the middle of a firefight, and I estimate that they are going to die while reviving me. I make the judgement call that they are better off focussing their energy on fighting.
Another thing that makes me hesitant to be revived is that I am at a disadvantage once I'm revived. I might be low on ammo, under fire, and disoriented. In other words, I wait to be revived, then am immediately vanquished again.
However I think your suggestion is intriguing, and I would like to see reviving made more appealing. Especially since the cost of respawning is so high. In some of the TT payload levels, defenders have to sprint for a full 30 seconds to reach the payload after respawning!
Thank you for taking the time to jot all of this down @GammaX6 and in such a well structured way too. It's super appreciated. You're not wrong, burning an ability to revive someone only to have them respawn can be a pain for sure.
Hey @jnicol1975, you've covered a good few reasons why someone might respawn. I was thinking on this and another reason might be if the revives weren't coming quick enough for those who need it - for whatever reason. As someone that has spent a lot of her early gaming time dead, it's not fun being on the floor for most of the fight. ^^;
