Error: failed to load sound: sounds/buttonclick

I've been getting this error everytime I try to launch the original PvZ on EA App. Bought the PvZ GOTY edition on Steam previously and was getting the same error. Already tried all the versions in compatibility mode, tried updating drivers, tried uninstalling/installing and repairing innumerous times but nothing seems to work.

In case anyone is having the same problem, I found a half-solution: change your audio output device to the computer's/laptop speakers. It will run the game with the audio on your device speakers, but it runs at least. After opening the game, you can change the output back to your headphone if you want to listen to music or something, but the game audio won't work.
