My much played Plants vs. Zombies stopped working this weekend. Every time I try to start the game I get a "Error reading user file" "Invalid user file."
I had not changed the games or removed any files from this computer.
Please help me?

Why would I download the game again? It's been there all this time. There is no EA folder because I bought and downloaded it from PopCap, I never downloaded it again from EA, and I don't think I should have to. I just like playing this one higher level game over and over again and I don't want to start again. It's a mental health coping tool for me and I am really missing it, this is why I'm trying to fix this and get back to playing it.
So, please clarify, do I have to download it again from EA?

I should clarify, this is a PC, not a portable device, and thus I didn't get aps from aps, I downloaded directly via web purchase with software maker. I'm that old.
Community Manager@maddydumont That error is related to the gamed entitlements, and profile data linked to the EA account. The only way to know if it is resolved it is to download the game again. There really arent many steps to a game that is this old that was installed that long ago. A lot has changed in 10 years so it is possible that after the migration of PopCap with EA, it's not recognizing you own the game.
If you are not wanting to redownload that is okay but there isn't much else you can do unless you redownload the gams as none of the folders that should be there are there. That limits troubleshooting completely.
This is the error I get even when doing all the things listed, such as deleting all of the temporary items, and moving license folder to desktop

Have you reinstalled the game since this started happening?
@EA_Shepard Hi, sorry for the late reply. I am launching the game through the ea app, Ive tried reinstalling and repairing, but it seems my data is saved to somewhere in ea servers, so I can't delete my data myself

This game is just trashed. The license is for the original game not the goty that i purchased and can't start a new game because it can't access it's own user files. Welcome to EA.
