I keep seeing people say this but I find it very, very hard to believe. I've won many games as plants, and also lost as zombies; I honestly feel it's fairly balanced now bar electro brains splash damage and possibly imp health. Being zombies is not an auto win by any account, and if you're top of the leaderboards each time then either a) you are always stuck with bad players b) always playing against better players c) you're team isn't counter picking or d) despite being top you're not influencing the game enough ie going for kills instead of captures. not taking rose when the teleporter is down etc.
There are many young children who play play gw2, this con be confirmed listening to mic noise in between games. Trying to tell and give the understanding to these young players that they need to play tacticly is going to be impossible, this is the reason GW1 worked so well is you don't need to work in that manor and kids and adults of any age can pick up the game and play either way and succeeded well in the game as all characters are balanced.
Gw2 is going to fail for a lot of kids and adults who were excited to have the game, in its current state of play gw2 going to be impossible for the first time player and children to pick up and succeed , this will be the downfall of the game as you need new players to make a profit to then able to improve the game.
The Rose issue just masked a bigger problem in that it covered up the limited success you will have as a plant. Rose now nerfed and so the bigger plant issue has been shown.

I find the plants to be weakest in Herbal Assault.
You bring up a very good point about the Scientist being OP atm. He has to be one the strongest supports I have seen and trumps the Sun Flower in ever way. I really don't know what he's supposed to be atm. He was like this in GW1 as well, warp in kill, warp out use healing station or heal ball on himself.
However Soldier's over shadowed him in that game, especially the Super Commando.
In this game he's alot more known now to be absolutely devastating.

Since getting the game, my son and I have hardly ever bothered playing online at all. We either play in the backyard battleground bc he just likes the new characters, or we play GW1. We don't feel this game is balanced at all. And not sure why, but all the characters just feel painfully slow while still managing to make the battlefield feel hectic and out of control. I hope they eventually get a hand on the balance issues, but it's felt so far out there since launch that I'm not getting my hopes up. I hope they at least make it so we can do the campaign in split screen so my son and I can get a little more use out of this broken game.

I might make one too, just to record all the comments from players who claim plants are fine, and upload it after they balance things.
In the heat of the moment, sometimes it's hard to counter argue someone with mature facts when all they are doing is hurling abuse. You cannot compare DPS from a Shotgun to a Machine gun, all you guys will now say we'll stay at range and shoot, well that's not going to work out well is it? Pirate beats Cactus and Soldier is range as well. Oh wait, even the supposedly close range character Superhero has one of the most devastating range shots there is!
Zombies have so much burst up close, and so much power at range.
