I've been trying to open PvZGW2 for a long while now and nothing has worked. I've tried using both Origins and the EA app but both do the same thing; it closes Origin/EA app for a second, and then it re-opens back up, but it doesn't give out errors or anything. In Origins it showed I was in-game despite the game not being open, neither was it anywhere in the task manager.1. I have updated windows and NVIDIA drivers.2. I have tried a clean boot, even with all disabled it still did it.3. I have cleaned cache, verified/repaired files.4. I have reinstalled Origin/EA app, and reinstalled PvZ:GW2 twice.5. I have deleted the files for PvZ:GW2 in the documents6. I have ran as administrator on both the game and the apps7. I have added exception for both the game and the apps in the firewall8. I have disabled my anti-virus.9. I have installed & reinstalled VC++ a few times.10. I have disabled Origin/EA app overlayI'm not entirely sure what to do now. I'm just assuming the game just isn't compatible with my hardware. (I've added the DxDiag log just in case)

I managed to fix it just now, try doing this:Open the start menu and type in "environment variables"If you happen to see something that says "GAME_DATA_DIR", delete that.What's weird is that "GAME_DATA_DIR" was a star wars battlefront 2 thing, so I have no idea why that affected pvz.

@ToddFraud25 forgot to mention that the game used to work around a year or two before Origin was replaced with the EA app.

Literally bought the game yesterday worked perfectly fine. Now I cant even get past the launcher. I have a 3050ti and 16gb of ram so I dont think its my pc. ( I also updated drivers, refreshed steam cache, restarted pc, and reinstalled still no fix)

I managed to fix it just now, try doing this:

Open the start menu and type in "environment variables"

If you happen to see something that says "GAME_DATA_DIR", delete that.

What's weird is that "GAME_DATA_DIR" was a star wars battlefront 2 thing, so I have no idea why that affected pvz.

Thank you for sharing this idea. Hopefully it works (I’m away from my pc so I don’t know if it’s gonna work) but I recently downloaded mods for battlefront 2 and it would make sense that maybe it is causing a problem.

Hello, i posted my problem in topics, im having the same problem, the game wont launch, i already tried what you said on environment variables and GAME_DATA_DIR does not appear anywhere. Dont know what to do. I downloaded the game from the EA website just bought it yesterday and is not working i have windowns 10 x64 i7

Happens to me too. I know my PC is capable of running it because it did launch once.

Hi, for me the ea app is the problem. I can tell u. On Origin all runs fine. I ve got PVZ GW2 Deluxe Edition. On Ea ive only got the normal garden Warfare 2.
And now i can´ßt find no other players 4 munltipayer games.
The EA support is not able to help. i want Origin back.
As you can see on the pics, it says that deluxe is included. But it does not show up at the game and i can still purchase it.

I'm guessing no one can help an Xbox player who's dealing with this same ridiculous crap of the game not wanting to open. It says it just doesn't connect. I just wanna take over some turds

What version of Windows are you running? My start menu doesn't have that anywhere? No dos prompt?
