I have the same Issue with this game and my PS4, reading other posts I created an ea account using the same email account, but is still not working.
I tried this with my own PSN account and my son sub-account, both match with EA accounts but still doesn't work.
I understand the game have to link automatically these accounts, but looks like is not happening.
I tried also to download origin in my computer(PC) to see if I can link them manually with the tool, but looking at other posts that says that is possible through the "add friends" feature, it doesn't work anyway.
this is really frustrating, this game was a "Christmas present" and my son is asking me why Santa give him a game that doesn't work. this is terryble.
i'm almost giving up guys if i don't find a solution quickly.
Community Admin@J_0d01 Hi, I assume you're using a sub-account. Can you play on your own account?
@OAC_CAOS I suspect your issue is a different one. Can you try creating a new adult PSN account and link it with a fresh Origin account, and see if this will let you get online.
If you can get online with the fresh account, please reach out to support, they can check on the accounts which are having issues linking up.

We bought the PS4 Pro and thought that was the issue, but now see it is tied to different PS4 versions. I went on EA and set up an account like most. Where in PS4 is there an option to link to the EA account. Wondering to go under Internet Browser and open the EA account from there. Any other solutions. Thank you. TRK1081

After four days of trying almost everything, chatting for about 2 hours with someone from EA, and creating accounts, i finally solved.
I had to download the demo of NBA 2016, tried the demo, this game let me link my account from PSN with the account with EA and then I went to PvZ and it worked.
Seriously, guys... I never had a so terrible experience with a game before....
1) if i bought the Original game for PS, why i have to create a EA account?.
2) if the account is to play online, why it didn't allow me to play offline?
3) Why I have to play a different game to make it work?
4) why I have to need two accounts that match to make it work!!!!!!
I had to apologize to my son on behalf of Santa for not been able to play the game, this is insane...
