Plants vs Zombies Gw2- unable to connect 2nd player to EA server

I have been quite fustrated with this part of the game. I log into EA servers no problem with my main account. I created a second EA account so my kid can play with me. For whatever reason i can only log him in as a guest because when i put in his username and password it says something like Unable to connect to the server at this time or something along those lines. So i have to log him in as a guest so he can't build any of his characters up. The 2nd player always has to play as a level 1 zombie or plant which is pretty crappy because they can't even access the new characters or limited time ones that pop in each week or so.

Am i missing a step or is it as simple as you can't build up a 2nd account playing in the same home? We play split screen. I really hope this isn't going to be one of those answers which tells me i can only get a 2nd xbox on a 2nd tv to have him play with me and build up his characters, rewards, etc.

This seems like a bad feature if i can't do it as anytime 2 players play they are always fighting over who gets the good account.

Argh.  Sorry we couldn't help more.  I myself have also had an unsatisfactory experience with customer service.

I'm going to flag this post again in the same place as before, perhaps something may come of it yet.  Good luck!

Here is the response I got from flagging your thread again.  I'm sorry the formatting gets so messed up from copying and pasting.

If I understand that correctly, he has trouble connecting the Gamertag he set up for his son to the EA account he set up for his son. If so, the advice with the Demo Download wasn't too far off, since there seems / seemed to be an issue to link those initially via GW / GW2.
Now it would be interesting if he could share son's Gamertag/ Origin-Persona and also what he did before he got that particular error message (what was he prompted for):

Also he could / should set up his console as home console in order to share his XBox Live Gold with his son for future purpose

  • I have this same issue with my kids account. I just have them play as guest. I thought about doing the copilot thing. The Xbox just came out with it. You can link the second controller to your and then I just have to login once and the kids and I can take turns playing. The drawback is we have to use the same character.  I honestly like this better than split screen though because even with my 43inTV it's hard to see what's going on in split screen.

I figured this out and I felt kind of dumb for not solving it sooner. When you play with your kid you get the message when doing a split screen about signing into EA. Even if you created an ID for your kids with your computer it may not work on this screen. What you have to do is click create at that EA screen asking you to login after choosing split screen. Then it will ask you for the PARENT's email address. This should be the account you have your main console Gamertag linked to. Create a password for the kids account and it will create an ID for them. After that, you can both play split screen without them playing as a guest. They will also be able to play the game without you having to be there to sign them in. I hope this helps.

Good job, I'm glad you got it worked out.  I'll need to remember where this post is so I can reference it for others.

I want plants vs zombies garden warfare 2 on PC. But i have been wondering, can you have two accounts in the same game, or you need to buy another one. Because my little brother is getting this game and I want it too. But I don't want to play on my brother's account because its gonna be awkward if i want to play with my friends.

I think your first part there got garbled via autocorrect.  But I don't think you can link multiple accounts to the same email address.  Google "how to set up ea account" for details.
