Xbox One Plants vs Zombies: Garden warfare
I can't play in Split Screen mode because I can't "add a guest". Kids frustrated. We just want to play the game locally. Yes, I have a Live account. Yes, my internet is working. Yes, I tried re-booting my Xbox. Threw salt over my left shoulder, etc.
Any suggestions?

What do you mean you can't "add a guest"? It wont let you select it on the second controller?
Does it give you a message or anything?

Turn on Xbox One. Load disk. First menu option I choose split screen. I'm logged in as one of the players. The game asks me to "select A to Join". When I do that, I've got options of adding a person (logging someone else in too), adding a guest, cancelling, and something else. I want to let a guest play. When I hit that option, I get a grey screen. It immediately says "...something happened...if you try again I'm sure it will work". I hit "ok" and then I get a grey screen with the white circle spinning...which it does until infinity. Clearly there's a bug somewhere. I've tried all of the other options.
Game was new on Saturday. I downloaded the PvZ download...something like 2.6GB. I also checked and I've got the 4/14/14 Xbox One update. I should be current.
Help!
After a quick search, I've found that this issue occurs for other games aswell.
The fix says to:
- Turn off the console, holding the power button for 5 seconds
- Unplug the Power cord
- Wait for a minute or two
- Plug the Power back in
- Boot console
