PvZ BFN Still Crashing My PS4 Pro When I Launch The Game

When I launch the game it crashes my PS4 Pro. I found a workaround to this by lowering my settings, launching it, closing it, and then relaunching it with 4k hdr like usual. There was about a month after I did that the first time that it didn't do it anymore, but it has just happened twice in a row. This glitch needs to be fixed ASAP. Does anyone know how I can get in touch with EA and do something about this? My original post about this issue didn't get any traffic and I at least want my money back if they aren't going to fix this. Any input appreciated.

Hi, you mentioned that changing your settings helped before, unfortunately it sounds like there may be a base hardware issue if you had an instability issue that's getting worse.

Hopefully that's not the case, and maybe a reset of the PS4 will help. Make sure you make a backup of your important data first, and then you can try re-initializing the console. It's a big step, but it can help if there's some issue with the console that the game is triggering.

@EA_David Ok I will try that and let you know if it works, it wouldn't surprise me if it was something to do more with the ps4 pro than the game. I've never had this happen with a game before but hopefully this will do the trick.

@EA_David So the first time the game was launched after quick initialization it gave me a "ps4 is too hot" (which it wasn't) warning but didn't crash so that's an improvement. I will let you know if it crashes my ps4 again.

@EA_DavidIt crashed my ps4 pro again. Considering that I've had never had or have had this problem with any other game it has to be pvz in some fashion, regardless of if it is the direct cause or triggering an issue in playstation's software/hardware when trying to run the game in 4k hdr. To me it just seems to ask more than the pro is capable of and crashes it.

@LeviathanDks I’m having a similar issue only it simply says “cannot connect to EA servers”. However, the PS4 Pro fans go crazy and the PS4 is using a LOT of power. If I launch the game using remote play and then close remote play it seems to work fine. Please fix this EA!

@TSpoonEars Yep for me the fans also get extremely loud as soon as the game starts up, but for me I thought remote play was maybe causing the issue somehow. I use remote play almost at all times to get my ps4's audio to my pc and to use my pc only headset while playing off the direct feed rather than remote play. I have to close remote play when I want to play the game and then start it up again after I load into the game using my method. Glad to know that I'm not somehow the only person experiencing this issue.

@LeviathanDks Weird, the only way it worked for me was start it with remote play on my phone, then close remote play once it had logged in. It was your idea of lowering the settings that caused me to try that method so thanks! I’m sure it’s a bug in the game when running on PS4 Pro on a 4k TV.

I am experiencing exact same thing as you on my PS4 Pro too. My fans also get extremely loud just like yours.
I changed the resolution setting to 1080p instead of Automatic as you suggested (thank you!) and so far it is now working and also the fans stopped going crazy. Is it still not working for you currently?

Just like in your case no other game is doing this on my system.

@Braixen09 Just to be clear when I say same thing happens on my system I mean when starting up the game on my ps4 pro the fans go insane and it crashes the system. For now it’s fixed as a result of doing what you suggested.
