This is an insanely annoying issue that has been in the game for years sadly - which hasn't been fixed.
The best solution is to go into settings -> display ->(scroll down to) navigation bar and change it to swipe gestures (instead of the symbols). If you're not used to swipe gestures it might take a bit of fiddle around to get back into the game, but the navigation bar will be gone, and you'll be able to craft/scrap cards. If your device shows an animation for swipe gestures, pay attention to the full animation as it'll show you how to do the "3 main actions" seen on the navigation bar.
As for actually fixing this issue, I believe there will never be a fix despite numerous reports on the issue and a lack of acknowledge from EA on the issue, which is disappointing.
I have literally never seen that setting before, its a pain EA will never fix it before but that setting works just fine, thank you very much Skelajon
