Bummed out too. Opened the 50 star chest only to get some coins and diamonds spilling out. Totally lame!
I got a green key when I opened the chest, but I had to check what I got back at the vending machine to see the last chest opened. Whatever key you get, go to the sewers and go through the gnome portals to find the door that matches the color. Open it and complete a time trial.

I had to jump across on pedestals, walk across beams and avoid fire balls without falling off during a time period and there was something else beyond the fireballs, something swinging that I couldn't make out.
