No, you're unable to change characters in the middle of a Garden Ops session. You're only able to change characters before the garden is planted. Unless you leave and come back.
Although there is a bug, that you can somewhat exploit to change characters mid-session.
You just have to find an out-of-bounds area, allow for it to time out and you'll end up on character select screen.
Thanks, I appreciate that. I swear sometimes I see people do it, so maybe that's what they're doing. I haven't found a way to get back into the game if you get booted out. Sometimes people come in as Dave and then change to another characters. I'll try the out-of-bounds thing and see if it works for me. Good idea!

Oh yes, it doesn't lock you in as Crazy Dave, so players are able to back out of Bossmode and select their character.
Once an actual character is selected you're locked in. 😕mileyhappy:
