In relation to your thoughts on IP addresses, I ran a trace route from my device where the game is failing to what I assume are the correct ea servers at

'easo.ea.com (159.153.234.54)'.

Over 20 hops, I started in the US then to the EU back to the US then to Ireland and finally back to the US.  On the 18th hop I hit

'ea-prod-sg-01.xbl-pub.ea.com (159.153.225.71)' and on the 20th hop I hit 'easo.ea.com (159.153.234.54)'.

I don't know if this information helps and I did not post it here for malicious intent, only to help resolve the common issue. If this isn't public knowledge please remove ASAP.

  • Now I'm wondering what the trace looks like for an app that's working fine.

    I was fine until yesterday. I started a ranked game with me on 46 3/5 stars. It stuck on the board with no draw cards.

    I waited a few minutes because I know I would lose a star and was hoping it would resolve itself. It did not. So I killed the app. Now this is happening. Android phone.

    So I went over to my ipad with no success. Decided to uninstall the app, delete the folder, clear cache on my Android phone. Desperation makes you do some strange things because since it is not working on either device clearly my phone is not the problem. Same error. My guess is there is something in the PvZ DB in a table that is wrong/corrupted. Clearly it is not everyone.

    And my worry as to why we haven't gotten a quicker resolution is the affected "lost' something. Cards, gems, progress. Else this would have been fixed by now.

    Just my wild guess.

    My choice of words has ran out for this game. I feel like it will be updated tomorrow because Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare usually always updates on Saturday but that's just a mere guess. The lack of responses from EA must mean they're either hiding something or just have absolutely no idea whats going on. Although, Plants vs Zombies 2 is working perfectly so clearly it's just something wrong with Plants vs Zombies heroes. I really hope they fix this epic game but their lack of response doesn't tell us anything. EA does have a lot on their plate. They have many games they must work on/update (including this one). The game will be fixed but in due time but really it shouldn't take almost a week to fix a error/glitch especially if they have the name "EA."

    I downloaded the game and installed it on a device that never had it before and got the same error message.

    How is anyone managing to play?
  • @npgibbs We have been informed that you need to sit down with your phone, open the app, and have a cup of tea in order to play. Dunno why or how this works, but it's all we have learned so far.

    *Edit* Research has suggested it's the electrolytes. It's what plants crave.
  • Hi again, I understand clearly @daalnnii , I think the silence before so many complaints bothered me a little, but only that, nothing serious. 

    Unfortunately for me, some time ago when I went back to the game, I was in the week of Lilly of Valley, I got very few and all the previous cards I did not get them, just at this moment they are repeating it, this happens, pretty bad luck for me. Anyway, I'll take them later by spark, I just want, like everyone else, that the game recover, it's quite addictive. My apologies in general for my impatience/upset. 

    About the problem, I do not have much to collaborate, I only know that it's a general problem, it does not depend on the device (If you game work, and you unistall, you will lose it, in any region and device). Could this message be passed to those who can play the game, Don't update or reinstall your game. Just play. Those who can play are those who updated just at the time the new update arrived, then the door closed, and many of us stay outside, and whoever leaves can not go back in, it's something like that.

    That isn't true. I cannot play and I updated as soon as the update came out. When others were receiving that error message I was still playing. Ranked against others. I got locked out after a game crash.

    I am outside of the US if that matters. But I did also try a VPN.

    To satisfy my curiosity and yours I ran a trace route from a working device, to the same address as I posted earlier. It returned the same results as the failed device, also in my earlier post.

    May not be IP address specific problem, but still could be routing or certificate issues.
