Re: Frustrated Player...

Here's some more math.

Sunflower:

50 rounds, 8 dmg per body shot, at 400 dmg for the Sunflower's entire clip

Sunflower can fire straight for 10 seconds, that comes to 40 DPS.

Scientist:

5 rounds, 40 dmg per body shot, at 200 dmg for the clip

Scientist can unload his 5 round clip in 5 seconds, that comes up to 40 DPS.

Now, a Scientist does do better in head shots, Sunflower gets 9 dmg per hit on the head, Scientist is hitting as high as 70.

Now, say a fight lasts 10 minutes (good, clean number), and say, in a make believe world, both are continuously firing and hitting a target for that duration. Lets look at numbers for that....

Both hit 40 DPS when you take into account how fast they fire over time, but that's not taking into account reloading.

During a 10 minute time period the Scientist has to reload 86 times, at 2 seconds per reload, that's 172 seconds reloading. That leaves 428 seconds dealing dmg, which at 40 DPS, that comes out to 17,120 dmg over a 10 minute time period for body shots.

During a 10 minute time period the Sunflower has to reload  60 times, which at 2 seconds for reloading, is 120 seconds reloading. That leaves 480 seconds of dealing dmg, which at 40 DPS, that comes out to 19,200 dmg over a 10 minute time period for body shots.

The main difference here, is burst vs sustained. If you put a Sunflower and a Scientist against a dummy that is standing in front of them, that has 200 hps, they would kill that dummy at the exact same time. But, because the Scientist does it in larger chunks of dmg, people assume, incorrectly, that he deals a lot more dmg.

And please, stop with the "Put you and me against one another and I'll kill you 100 times!" statements. 1. Even if that were true, that neither proves, or disproves balance, and 2. It's just more of your asinine belittling of others and own ego stroking that adds absolutely nothing of substance to the conversation.

You want to make a point about balance? Use NUMBERS, use MATH. Leave opinion at the door, and back up any and all claims with MATH. Otherwise, you're just another person using conjecture.
