Its simple give the sunflower the same capabilities as the scientist 🙂 lol
Play Cactus. Snipe 'em til they cry. It was like that in the first game and it still works here.
The trick is killing them without letting them get close - because that's their domain. (Unless there's a Chomper nearby) However, it's not too terribly hard considering they only have 100 hp. The Scientist was always pretty powerful - people just glossed over him because they were too busy spamming Soldiers.
Sure, most of the Variants do a bit more damage point blank than in the first game (Regular can hit 70s up close!) - but it makes them competitive or even better than the GW1 powerhouses. (Chemist, Marine Biologist) Still doesn't mean they can't be quickly killed from afar or gooped and chomped to unrevivability.
People will eventually learn how to expect/react to warps eventually. And those that waste their warps for 1-2 kills die quickly. Scientists can be annoying, but they aren't the sole reason why the game's skewed towards the zombies. The Zombie team has THREE classes that can get over 200 hp - two of which have it baseline, and they're getting spammed all to hell right now.
- Anonymous9 years agoWell to be fair the main difference in the current game is maps have way more clutter, and scientist have an easier time hiding out and avoiding the snipe and goop.

There is no other possible solution other than completely ruining the Scientist.
You make many valid points however, what worked in GW1 isn't going to work in GW2 because like every class, zombie have the stronger equivalent.
Pirate zooms in quicker, seems more fluid when sniping and well, has a built in shotgun, stronger flying sidekick parrot, and a cannon and explosive barrel. Cactus is easily killed now with the Pirate around, it gives Scientist the extra breathing space to close the gap.
- Anonymous9 years ago"Just snipe them" worked in the first one because the maps weren't as cluttered. In gw2 there's way too much stuff to hide behind for it to be that simple.
So glad you agree Goolerex also even if we nerf the Scientist nothing will change because the Zombies will just flock to one of the other three close range classes and the cycle will repeat until all of them are nerfed simply because the Plants lack close range options. I want to give the Plants better close range capabilities and make them more individualistic so we do not have to go on a nerfing spree and ruin the viability of close range and turn this game into another sniper fest.

Exactly, remember, limited range, 2 teleports, 1 heal station. Force them to use all their abilities before they reach their destination and it becomes fairly easy once they try to hide. I normally finish them off with the Garlic Drone.

The Future Cactus was the best on 1 hit KO these on GW1. Always loved charging to full charge, watch them try to revive each other while I killed them over and over again.
Good to see people that try to work around the problem instead of whining and especially thanks for reasoning why we shouldn't compare sunflower and scientist that much, pretty much the only thing similar to them is that they can both heal.
Although you have some tip wrong, like using shield against a scientist which flat out don't work as the splash go though it anyway (and his two top variant are all splash) And the fact that rose can only hope to goatify a scientist at time if she want to survive at close range.
I sure don't want to see foot soldier spam to come back from GW1,but like @Artomos said,it surely won't be that way as the map pretty much encourage more close ranged fight for the most part. But Honestly, outside of chomper, Plant team are actually pretty fine for the most part and don't need much buff. Outside of chomper obv. Which should dominate in his meta and yet...He don't.
