Re: Pea Gatling

Pea Gatling is something I've been thinking about for a while. And I think it's fine the way it is but...

  • It shouldn't be used for long range. I see many people pulling off kills easily from across the map as they're harder to see than snipers. It just happens from somewhere you can't usually see.
  • It has no recoil and Aim-Assist makes it a killing machine. It seems like most folks are like bots and have high accuracy for an ability that should require a bit more aiming and skill.

What do I think they should do about it?

  • Add some recoil: This would make it difficult to use at longer ranges and also reduce the number of headshots to punish players with bad aim. The recoil won't hinder his usefulness in taking down Space Stations or larger targets.
  • Add/change sound effects to make it Peashooters more obvious. Pea Gatling's sound effect doesn't sound as lethal as it should be. To prevent players from camping around corners and being suddenly vanquished, they could add a small sound effect that indicates a Gatling peashooter is nearby.
  • Or, instead of adding a sound effect to camping Peashooters, they can add a delay between shooting and spinning up. That would make a Pea Gatling similar to All-Stars gun. When a Peashooter starts spinning up, you hear a sound effect correspondent to that and as a Zombie you'll have a time to react and evade. No more sudden deaths out of nowhere because of camping peas. It also makes no sense that All-Stars gun has a louder sound effect with lower damage but Peashooters have lower sound effects with more damage.

The damage should stay intact with no changes. With all these suggested changes, Pea Gatling would require more skill to use. This would prevent sudden deaths of Peashooters camping around corners or in sneaky locations too difficult to see. I don't think it would nerf Peashooters or their utility, but it would add more difficulty using him.

  • I kind of agree with certain points you've all made. The new suped ability I haven't found much of a use for outside PvE. The bean bomb is a bit meh, as my son would say! I don't have a problem with the primary (I always preferred basic Peashooter over other variants). Gatling I think long-term probably needs the adjustments suggested, but my penny's worth is I don't think it should be touched until after tweaks have been made to address the feeling that the zombies currently have the advantage over plants, with pirate, space station & Brainz.

Good points but I'm ok with the gattling as is.

Fact is you are a sitting duck, easily one shotted by a variety of zombies. I've Iost count of the times I have been ZPG-ed. If the gattling was less powerful it just wouldn't be worth the risk.

I felt the same as all of you when I started BFN, now I watch Pea Gatling take out surprise attacks from the 80’s hero using its rocket ride amongst varies others. I completely understand that there are many balance issues, that’s why I continue to point out the discrepancies with individual characters. I do not believe in continuing to power up other character moves to balance pvp issues. There are already far to many 1 hit kills, that’s why I am all for nurfing the most ridiculous.

Pirates fully charged spy glass shot doing 98 damage is a prime example of this. In relation to character max health, 98 damage from a primary is crazy. These and others are on par with heavy damage moves like ZPG’s, Shuck Shot, bean bomb, ultra ball, imp punt.. the list goes on. Just like Super Brains throwing fists move, a melee monster with not 1 (ultra ball), but 2 ranged attacks with the fists powering up faster/recharged than the timer on the ultra ball makes for a an extremely lopsided game as stated in a previous post above. When all characters are viable online while contributing different skill sets is when you know that there is a fair and competitive environment.

  • @GammaX6 I simply find the new abilities less useful than the old, but agree he's good. You can make anything work! 😂
