Re: The Kings Day Out is Nearly Impossible on Crazy difficulty

Yep.  It's eluded me and many teams of very good players so far.  I've gotten hard but not crazy for this one.  Often bad luck plays a role, not much one can do about that.

As to strategy, try some searching on the reddit sub.  Not much useful advice has been written this time around, but last time there were quite a few good pointers submitted.  You can try a search for author:redmichii, she had some very useful advice.  I did some crazy with her last time around and we came within inches but couldn't quite make it.

The problem I keep running into is that the game transpires in such a way that all of one's prudent strategies keep ending up thrown out the window as pandemonium breaks loose.

I just got mine today.  After trying since Thursday, only on Crazy Mode, I almost gave up.

Yesterday, with 3 max rank players, we got the king yeti's health down to very very low, like 1 bar left, but we ran out of time.

So today, with some luck, i got to team up with 2 low ranking players, and 1 max rank player.

The team was:  torchwood (rank 6-41),  electro citron (rank 7-31), plasma pea (max rank) and me - stuffy flower.

Again, just my luck, these two low ranking player knew exactly what to do.

What I've discovered, as a sunflower,  -  you buy time by planting lots and lots and lots of potted plants.

Especially planting sunflowers.  With this strategy, the brown coats, soldier, engineer and all stars focus is

to wreck that planted flower.  When you do this, this gives you free time to aim at popsicle or just to run away to

    stay alive.

When you see an empty pot, plant one.  Ice shroom, goop, doom shroom and sunflowers work best.  So load up on plants.

Luck again was on our side as we were down to the very last minute, and the kings fool spawned on the same side as where we spawned plus

where the king yeti was hanging out.

There'is lots of luck involved to get the win, but today was extremely satisfying as I've been wanting that scrumptious hat for very very long time.

It can be done, but the ratio percentage of being successful is very very low (on crazy mode),

Keep trying and just maybe, you will land with a dream team.

    Best of Luck!

    PS

Corn looks great with the scrumptious crown.

I've been trying crazy level with so many groups, the closest I got is 10% health remaining but fail short because I suppose to be the body guard but got killed in the process. Here is few tricks that I learn :

    0. Strategy is the key since we have a lot time, so no need to hurry but make sure execute strategy correctly.

    1. Put a lot pot plants, any of them to keep zombies busy attacking the pot, instead of the team. Best pot for the yeti is goop.

    2. two player(corn, pea shooter, citron) stay on top of the bridge to shoot 95% of the popsicle.  Another pair (sun flower team) stand by on far end to take care the one on top the bus, and under the bridge. Actually the Commando corn can nail 95% popsicle(including under the bridge) very easily by himself, so sun flower team can do the zombie cleaning while watching the popsicle on the bus to show up.

    3. Kill the yeti and disco to avoid their surprise attack.

    4. Don't kill the imp ASAP but bring the imp CLOSE to the king. Great idea, but HOW ?

Shoot the imp, then run away from him. He will "FOLLOW" you !  So keep shooting little bit and drive him to Yeti . When you got pretty close by but safe distance, finish him off. Heal all players to max health, the strongest player should drink this.

    5. Attacking distance to yeti king .

Approach the Yeti with medium distance so he won't coming and jump and kill all of you. The one drink MUST STAY PUT while attacking (not dancing/moving around), sun flower put the flower pot, and the team start bring the big gun (chuck shot, sun beam, pea gattling etc), except the body guard (see 6)

    5. location of the attack

slurpy carrier find open space (under the cover if possible) so all players can easily attacking and big gun attack doesn't get interrupted when yeti run away.

    6. One player must be DEDICATED to BODY GUARD the team during attacking period.

Even though u're sure u have cleaned the zombies, new zombies will come out of the blue and start rushing. The most dangerous one is frozen mini yeti. So one player must watch the team six while inside the circle for fast kills. He must do this process especially when 3 other players bring their big gun. Once the big attack done, the last player can load his big gun then back to body guard. If totally empty, all four attacking.

    7. Once yeti start dancing to bring ice cicle rain drop, instruct the team to move from that spot to avoid all the team got killed !

    8. Repeat the cycle 3 to 5 times.

Unfortunately, I fell little short, but hope this helps others. I'll be back 4 months from now...to finish him OFF for good.

I wish I could say, "Oh, Yeti isn't so hard" like I did with Brothers Gnomus and Sasquatch. However, both my Craaazy wins required a commando corn (played by yours truly 😉) One of the major keys to success on the hard and craaazy runs was Commando Mode being saved and triggered at or on the way to the boss. This is especially powerful if you are lucky enough to be close to the boss when you drink the slushie. It means you can land x2 damage buffed shuck shots in a single slushie.

As for general strategy. In one run I had a toxic pea, vamp flower, commando corn and an ice pea. (This team had no means of communication) In the other was a torchwood, commando corn, fire flower and vamp flower. (This team all had headsets) Both involved two teams, on the covered bridge was the commando corn. (Get comfy, this is your new home.) The other involved the remaining players grouping together on or near the stone bridge.

*A tip from my brother, who played the toxic pea in the first match, is to get as many players as possible on the cabin nearest to the stone bridge. Using potted plants or another player it is possible for any class to get up there. This won't deal with heroes or bosses but will nearly eliminate the trouble with browncoats and mini yeti's.

Then once the Yeti begins to dance the corn should be able to eliminate all but 3 cones with ease. Two of the remaining cones are behind and under the stone bridge, these are hard to hit but not impossible. The last is on the bus and cannot be hit from the covered bridge. Honestly, save the three cones I mentioned the corn should be able to handle the entire phase, but assuming the others aren't downed their help will only make things easier.

Once the yeti is done dancing your hardest task happens, you need to meet up with the group. Choose your path carefully and remember that husk hop can help you cover distance in an emergency. Really, this is the hard phase for everyone. Waiting for the fool, it's time to survive and clean house for the Yeti run. DO NOT ignore common enemies they can overwhelm you very quickly. Second, if at all possible eliminate all the bosses before engaging the fool. (As a team this should be an relatively simple task.)

*A tip from the fire flower on the second run is, during this phase try placing 3 goop shrooms or ice shrooms in the area by the cabin and grouping up there. (This helps the corn out too.) It will help significantly with dealing with the King's Army, bosses or otherwise.

My last advice involves the slushie run. Don't be afraid to be patient, as long as you have reasonable DPS (As I said before commando corn really helps) you will have no trouble taking the Yeti down in 3-5 cycles, even with unlucky fool placement. (At 30 minutes on Craaazy there is plenty of time.) In both my successes we had over 5 minutes left. Survival is your enemy here, not time. Also consider, it only takes a few seconds for the fool or king to cover a lot of ground. Being patient can lead to better placement and even a few extra seconds of slushie can make a large difference in the amount of damage the team deals. Just remember, a few seconds or even a minute setting up a successful slushie run is better then a failed run or needing to do another cycle.

Once you unleash your plant fury upon the Yeti its time for the commando corn to make their way back to the covered bridge. Like before this is one of the harder steps and this time you can't husk hop to safety since you need it to get on the bridge. The rest of the team need to stick together and make their way back to the stone bridge. (It may also be beneficial to escort the corn back to their perch if they are struggling.) Also as a last note, as a sunflower if you are going to use your beam (which is often risky dps that isn't really needed. Damage from the pulse is plenty and keeps the vamp flower healed) do it in the last 10 seconds of the slushie. That way if the slushie holder does die there isn't a major loss in damage dealt. (Also be sure your healing pot is up.) In the case of two sunflowers, like I had on the second run, make sure to coordinate who beams when so that both sunflowers are never beaming at once.

I could go into more detail but I would be going into basic concepts of the run. (Setting up the cone, freezing enemies and so on.) Of course, I can answer questions if people have them. I hope some of this helps, I wish I could explain a run without a legendary variant, but frankly, I'm not sure I would have won otherwise. But, having had commando corn I can say that both runs went very smoothly with very few close calls.
