Re: This Yeti Boss Hunt
This boss hunt was difficult despite it being fairly straightforward in concept. I think I tripled my vampire flower play time over this weekend!
The bug where we got a silver hat for the hard mode win instead of the gem hat until getting the diamond one first was the worst part for my friend and I. We beat all 3 difficulties in a row on Friday with an excellent team but we had to spend our stars before returning and then it went south from there. Between bad character choices like chompers, people leaving mid match at bad spots, people who didn't understand the popsicles, and the randomness of the king's movements and the constant freezing, getting the gem crown was a nightmare despite having the scrumptious crown so early on.
The worst part was when you did have a good team and the king decides to constantly break line of sight so you lose tons of dps or he'll suddenly charge and do his point blank yeti freeze aoe when everyone needs to be in the slushee circle as well as the fool being so far away from the king quite often making the trip to engage him with the buff long and burning up valuable time.
When you get so far along and then lose, losing 20+ minutes of time it was tedious and we had to redo this thing over and over to get hard done a 2nd time, and we're both experienced in these kinds of encounters from years of raiding in MMOs, so for those looking for a more kid-friendly shooter must have been pulling their hair out.
The Brothers Gnomus was pretty easy, maybe too easy, but this one reminds me of the Sasquatch and Scary Squash combined and without a better explanation on what to do it can cause hours of frustration for people. I used Realitysquared's guide before playing this event and most of the people at least had an idea what to do by Sunday when we finally got the 6th hat (gem version), but I know on the FB group there was a lot of dislike for this one and my friend who plays almost every day with me as we get quests done and just play matches was downright angry over this one, and I wasn't far behind.
I have zero issue with things being challenging but this was frustrating in the extreme. I do like that you have to beat a difficulty level to advance to the next one but the bug with the hat, the wasted time from failing in the last second due to so much time lost on some slushee runs, and so many people not knowing what to do made this far less enjoyable than it could have been.
