Request for Small Real Cash Transactions (Read before Comments)

*EDIT* Formally this topic was named 'Request for Microtransactions' but to many people where commenting before reading, and missunderstanding what was ment by microtransactions. For clarification, i mean paying for content that can be earned ingame, a shortcut, but not pulling existing content and adding a pricetag. Compleatly optional. Thank you.

 *EDIT 2*

After a well made point from someone ive revised the request ive mad on this post, read below for the revised version. Ive crossed out the original words i dont want any more, and new bit are in Itallics.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So as a gamer i have a full time job. This means I don’t get alot of time to play the grind on games, but i do have a bit of cash to spend.

So i was wondering what the chances where of getting purchasable coin packs (eg pay money for coins)  DLC packs that unlock all the character variations to be added to the game for those of us that wouldn’t mind paying to bypass some of the grind?

Also i find at the moment that I’ve been playing to unlock stuff, but not really been enjoying doing it. That said i enjoy the game, but the need to earn coins over-rides all accomplishment.

Idealy i was thinking small transactions for larger amounts of coins that this would be a small transaction, and it has the possibility that the funds could be used to fund additional content that would be released free for all users. Realistically no one is going to pay a pound for a pack, but i recon id pay £5 for around 12000 coins (allowing you to grab 3 new classes if you wanted). I'd be interested to hear what everyone else would find acceptable for this. P.S. Im not trolling here, however know that i have become involved deeply in PC gaming recently and the entire PC community has a much more laid back approach to in-game purchaces, which i didnt have when i was a pure console gamer.

Another thing that would be great, looking at the micros on some mobile games (These are mobile games that are free to play, and the purchase simply provides the boost if you need / want it. See Pixel Kingdom), would be a one off purchase of around £2.50 for a x2 boost to be applied to coins earned for lifetime. That kind of price is affordable to everyone, and still cuts out some grind.

I'd tolerate microtransactions in this game on one condition:

You cannot just buy anything you want. You still have to contend with the RNG sticker packs. If you buy a 40k Character Pack wth real money, it should still be a random unlock.

If the random pack generation is retained, I will tolerate microtransactions. BUT, if someone with a few extra dollars is playing a game and gets killed 20 times by Future Cactus and decides that he wants that variant, takes his couple dollars and is able to buy that variant specifically, then I have a problem. It ruins the spirit of the game and it gives a tremendous advantage to players. Even more so since certain variants are objectively stronger than others.

Well they have said they will most likely have paid content and DLC later on so its only a matter of time before  you get rid of it.

I agree entirely. The way i see it, you would either get something to speed coin collection, or get more booster packs (TBH, i already paid a slightly higher price from retailers to get a bonus pre-order sticker packs). But that would still be all RNG. The only thing i recon is far is if you paid more for ALL the varients, but couldnt pick and choose one.

I'm fine with paid DLC. Just leave the mobile microtransaction business model garbage on mobile.

  • Ahhh... children nowadays. Want everything now and cry until they get it. I remember the good old days when people bought games to actually play them. How about you give EA $100, they can unlock all the achievements for you, and you don't even get the game in return. That way you can forego playing the game entirely... I mean that's essentially what you're doing anyways.

I agree, but im not asking for mobile transactions. People are jumping to conclussions. I was using some mobile games that do DLC like items well.

Well, 100 is abit steep, but yes that'd be good.

Firstly, im 26 so not realy a child, but let me give a different view to your own. I remember the good old days when you bought a game, and were given all the content that the game came with when we paid for it, instead of needing to play for hours to unlock the features that were advertised for the game.

So even if i did have the chance to pay extra for more unlocks, would that trouble you? And if so, have you complained to the CoD forums, as those people who paid more for limited editions got an XP boost.
