Rose's Damage

Is it just me, or does Rose (The first one you get, none of the alternative variants of the character) feel slightly underpowered? I was playing today (Trying to max out all the plants) with Rose, and it seemed as though she wasnt doing as much damage compared to the other players.

Most of the time I came up against Marine Biologists, and Super Brains. Everytime I came within close quarters of these characters (And some others, mainly these two and Soldiers) I ended up losing the brawl. My accuracy is decent, I rarely miss, but it seemed like Rose wasn't dealing enough damage to help me.

I understand that Rose is more of a support player, using the Time Snare and the Goatify ability, which is good, but while I was playing Gnome Bomb, I understood that I had to try and use her to her strengths and defend the area, which worked, quite well actually, up until they figured out my plan (Attacking from a distance / medium range) and began moving their way closer to me.

Once they got to me, I felt incredibly weak compared to the Zombies. Rose (for me) deals 9 damage at any range, I feel as though there should be a damage multiplier for close quarter engagements, perhaps 1.25x or 1.5x, excluding the critical hit bonus at close quarters.

I'm not sure if anyone else feels this way, I felt I should say something in-case other people were seeing this too. I just think she should do a little more damage at close range.

  • Huhhh,don't expect to be able to even survive against a superbrain and a scientist in close range as a rose?

  • I expect to stand even the smallest of chances. I got killed by Super Brains almost instantly, I never even stood a chance against the "Heroic Fists", because 3-4 hits and I was dead. It takes a lot of damage from Rose to vanquish a Super Brains.

    As for the scientist, it's roughly the same, but not as bad. I don't seem to stand a chance against most of the zombie characters.

  • Her damage is fine. She does 10 damage per hit with her upgrade and for a character you don't have to aim much for that's more than enough and allows you to take out every zombie with one clip if you can land most to all of those shots. you shouldn't be fighting close quarters with a weak (health wise) character that has homing shots anyways but even if it happens all 3 of roses abilities can counter super brainz since most people that play him are scared to use their melee and only use turbo twister and as for scientists her arcane or goat abilities help while you draw distance away or stay there to let the scientist get distracted to the point that your team may take them out. that or go for the free 60 damage you'll get on them

    I'm actually wondering if the homing buff really happened.  I was playing as the Ice Rose and my shots were not tracking anything,  It actually felt worse than before the patch.  Anyone else having this problem?

    Otherwise, as others are pointing out, I do think saving and using her powers wisely can really help you when someone comes in close.  Although I also notice that many times when I activate her Arcane Enigma power someone still manages to kill me after it's already up.  Maybe it's a lag thing.

    I main frost rose and i have 0 problem with her. She also does way less damage compared to Basic.
    Anyway Basic Rose was already pretty strong last patch.

    Some little tips to help you:

    - stay next to the team-mate that you think he can carry you. Possibly a damage dealer class

    - use your spells only for peeling (protecting people from threaths)

    - at the best use those if you're forced to protect yourself

    - only use spells for those who DESERVE that. But generally speaking, just be careful as the casual corn player is an autistic cod rambo player

    - save time snare for S.brainz turbo twist, mechs and at the best imps, you don't really need that to imp as your shots have splash damage and you can arcane enigma

    - don't time snare a warping scientists that is coming next to your face, as time snare doesn't stop them to shooting you, instead try predict their warping position and goatify them

    - JUMP. Continue spam the jump button while shooting. She's dodgy and really hard to hit.

    There are so many other tips, but i think these are the most essential ones

    Last patch i played the default Rose and i ended up with 2.41 K/D. Really good if you think that she got overnerfed.
    Despite the nerf Rose is still a very good character that can really influence a match alone by herself. She's just not immediate and easy to play, but with her better homing right now she's much more affordable.
