  • Yeah, I had well over 6 million coins so I was able to buy all 5... Would be cool for them to do this again next month. I think the only two I need is the Rose healing arcane enigma and the All Star tackle shield thing. I got the Bling Pylon Call, so I don't believe there is a standard Bling Mech, but heard there might be.

What on earth are you talking about? Rux this week was the best delivery from the developers so far. 5 items at once? They should do it again next month... I hope it has Roses healing enigma and the all star tackle shield.

Well first off, one of the main premises of Rux, in fact the main premise, is that he offers you items you don't already have.  This premise has been abandoned to a small degree in recent visits, and altogether this time.  Lots of people are upset about this.

Second, I think it is safe to say that a large percentage of players have neither gathered 2.5M coins on hand to spend nor the time to do so, so offering all of these items at once is almost cruel to the average player.  When Rux brought three abilities several months ago, it was a big stretch for most of those interested in the abilities to grind up 1.5M.  I managed to do it, but it took some work, and ever since then I've made sure to have 1.5M on hand for a Rux appearance.

I'm glad you and everyone else got the opportunity to get these abilities.  But I'll stand by my statement that it's not likely going to please the bulk of the player base, which is all I said.  To take a slice of the player base opinion, a thread on the reddit sub entitled "screw you rux" has 71 replies, compared with 19 replies for another thread called "count your blessings" complaining about the first thread.

I made no complaint, despite only being offered one item I don't already have.  I'm a happy man this week.  Long live Bling Johnny.

So glad I'm not the only one that saw that! The idea of a dragon that breathes fire on your head is cool, but yeah it looks a bit too much like dog poo. >.<

The items offered really should be based on the individual player. This isn't a complex problem to solve. A little database query and you are done. (I'm a software and game developer -- I know this isn't complex.) There could be a list of RUX items for the month as normal, but then if a player already has something on that list, pick something else to display. This is really basic stuff in game dev.

I thought this month's RUX was excellent. For the first time in many months, RUX offered special abilities, and I was pleased to see that three of them were abilities I had missed in the past (that was a big deal for me since I have missed *very* few). RUX's past several appearances have been abysmal.

In response to a previous suggestion for what RUX should have:

Multi-shuck I've never heard of. If this is a real thing, I'd love to get a hold of that!

Consumables in general are annoying and I definitely don't want to see legendary versions wasting space in RUX's inventory. It's bad enough getting consumables in a pack when there are still items I don't have from that set. The whole idea of Legendary consumables is extremely annoying anyway. Why would I want to spend that much money on a consumable? That's just silly. Sure, they look cool, but in multiplayer their lifespan is measured in seconds, and in Garden/Graveyard Ops, you are the only person that gets to see them. Since all Legendary consumables are seasonal in nature, they should just automatically replace the standard consumables during the appropriate time of year.

Legendary items are fun. I like those because they do stuff when you score a vanquish, so that's nice.

Random classic GW1, I absolutely *hate* seeing these in RUX inventories. It's bad enough getting these items in exchange for Rainbow Stars. Most of the GW1 Classic items were dull and uninteresting, and so are not worth the price. And there are so many items in GW1 that attempting to collect them all just to get the rare few that were interesting is an exercise in tedium. I definitely don't want to see them cluttering up the precious few spaces available to RUX, who generally seems to be reserved for truly special items or alternate abilities.

Ultimately, RUX really should stick to just legendary items and new abilities (tailored so that you don't get presented with something you already own). We already have to wait a month between appearances, it really sucks when RUX has nothing but junk and the one good thing he has, you already own.
