We've talked about him before and after next month's prize map he'll be selling that corn upgrade, but I wanted to focus on what Rux has been selling up to now.At first we discussed FOMO (fear of missing out) as the special costumes (I doubt many worry about punchers much) were on weekly rotations. This has been mitigated somewhat by the fact they've been coming back regularly instead of gone so quickly. What I'm more talking about here is that, beyond the legendary costumes that have some extra effects (and even this is debatable), everything Rux sells feels like it should just be in the reward-o-tron. None of it feels like it's special enough to justify using rainbow stars (real money) to acquire. I'm not just talking about the lack of the everlasting crown, which would be something a lot of us would love, but it's all stuff that doesn't real stand out compared to the prize map, region rewards, and the reward-o-tron. What do other folks think?

Yep, I agree with most of what has been said and it all seems very odd... and I also fully understand the frustrations we ALL feel about the way things have been handled.However, in my humble opinion, while we have every right to express our opinions, I find it a unnecessary, rude and unhelpful to call the developers names or talk about them in a very derogatory manner. We are trying to build a relationship with these people who have lives, feeling and passions just like us and to express ourselves with the vitriol I sometimes see in this forum these days is disrespectful and possibly even damaging to an already slightly fraught relationship.We have absolutely no idea what restraints the Devs are under, or what forces and management decisions they have to abide by, deals that have been made etc. that are totally out of the control of the Devs themselves.And just to clarify... I have not tagged anyone or singled anyone out as this is something I see more and more of in the forum from a number of people and my game is not to call anyone out but more to ask or suggest that we treat everybody with the respect that we would like ourselves.... and that includes the Devs.This is my own opinion and I realise it may be unpopular but there you go 🙂❤️

Agree with you all. Most of the non-legendary items look just like what we got out of the reward-o-tron. Heck, I would have been disappointed to get a few of them from there, much less pay rainbow stars for them. I don't know what made the cut for what reason. Maybe the pieces that were supposed to replenish the reward-o-tron went to Rux to help fill out his inventory.I still don't see why they don't have at least one offering in the store for coins. It would get some of us to even look in there again. I've stopped because I know I am squirreling away my rainbow stars for something that is bound to be "important" some day. We are getting there with otherwise unobtainable things like the legendary corn upgrade after February. So I don't even look in his store anymore. If there was a coin spot it would get me interested again and then I might see than one costume I simply can't play without.

@Iron_Guard8 I really miss my Everlasting Crown and it's color commentary. Most of my characters wore it over any other hat.I agree that Rux could be the exclusive seller of Legendary items and cosmetics while a lot of the other stuff in there could be sold through the Reward-O-Tron.There's no way that I'll ever be spending Rainbow Stars on a text expression or an emoji when they're doled out so stingily that I'll likely have quit the game and moved onto something else long before I've managed to buy the Legendary and Super Rare costumes which I would actually want.Truth is I don't even look at Rux's shop any more- I'm still hundreds of Stars away from being able to buy something which I'd actually want so he may as well be just showing up once a month instead of being open 24/7.But the Reward-O-Tron was clearly intended to be a finite resource and there was clearly no plan to ever actually restock it since absolutely everything going forward was being rolled into their "Buy Rainbow Stars" monetization plan.

@asabaida This was a nice reminder to remain civil on our forum and it certainly hasn't been any one person. Many of us have a lot of frustrations with the game right now. While it can make everyone feel better to express their frustrations at times (and we have been even when it doesn't feel like anyone is listening), there are ways to do it without making negative personal remarks. Not that I don't still automatically do so in my head sometimes, but I try not to let it out lol

It's sometimes difficult when you care about something passionately, but you're right, there are ways of letting off steam without risking offence . . . 😂If we want to be heard, we need to be rational & respectful, as that is more likely to achieve results.(I can still call MYSELF a muppet / doughnut, right??) Yep I agree, none have been that spectacular and certainly I think they are too expensive in real terms. I suppose the first oak and acorn number was pretty cool and I did like the pink fairy imp affair, they are all pretty good but as you say could have come out of the rewardotron mostly and all the punchers, emotes etc are useless really. Oh yeah and the cactus one... thats a good one 😃 but Im not sure what makes them Rux worthy for so many stars.
Some of the customisations are nice but again seem like Rewardotron fodder.... the only other things Ive seen that are pretty cool are the taunty dancey things... some of them look great but again Rewrdotron worthy rather than the hard collected stars over much time or paid for real money "special" Rux items.

I'm not sure but it is almost like most things (maybe not the full costumes... are they legendary?) were meant to go in the Rewardotron but then they ran out of time to design more and so just used them for Rux.

It feels to me as if the items Rux has in stock are essentially the equivalent of the GW2 Town Hall & Community Challenge chests, where there were a small amount of legendary items and a much larger amount of more ordinary items.
The only special thing about the majority of these customisations was that you couldn't obtain them any other way.

I've seen a few things with BFN Rux that I've thought, that's quite nice / cool, but nothing so out of the ordinary that I've wanted to spend a large amount of rainbow stars on.

@Iron_Guard8 Agreed! The whole reward system isn't well designed at all. Why did PopCap invent the Reward-O-Tron when it was pretty clear they would add Rux's shop as well? It was obvious for them not add anymore items to the machine. The cosmetics you could get out of the Reward-O-Tron are similar to those which can be obtained at Rux's shop. Why on earth did they do it? It's like they couldn't decide whether they should monetize the cosmetics or not. Now there is a useless machine in the middle of each base and a Rux's shop full of goodies which can't be bought with coins.
The better tactics would have been to avoid the whole machine thing and just to add Rux with the option to buy an item with Rainbow Stars OR coins OR Tacos OR Sheriff Badges OR Marshmallows OR a combination of different currencies like 300 Rainbow Stars + 150.000 coins for one Legendary Skin for instance.

This.... oh so this.... it just doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever... it just irritates the life out of me and I'm sure many other folks.

Rant ahead alert:
This is the only game I play and I guess I play a lot compared to some other folk, you would think that would benefit me (time put in) but no, in actual fact you are "punished" once you get the prize map completed and saved your 50 bulbs for the next month as any rewards you can get (coins, tacos etc) are absolutely useless with this system... not to mention the amount of bulbs that they cheerfully announce every time for the rest of the month (couple of weeks at least) even though you will never see them... they essentially rub in your face every bulb that you lose.
And sometimes 2 of the character challenge bulbs are also lost for the month. So irritating and hardly motivating to play the game.
Today there is a new thing to taunt me....

so... suddenly I noticed I had 51 bulbs instead of 50.... for a very brief second I wondered if they had changed it so that daily challenges, character challenges added to your max total bulbs. Which in my opinion should be the case, at least it would give those that are finished the map something to do and be worth doing. But no, of course they didn't, the extra bulb came and went all day... taunting me along with the rest of xp announcement bulbs 😃

So, yes what @ippig said... the currency system absolutely sux and makes absolutely no sense.

Note: I have avoided saying much all day to avoid ranting.... so that was a total fail then 😃

Which bulb thing the 51 thing? just today but it doesn't matter, its not important not even worth reporting... I only mentioned it because... well I was having the wee rant thingy about getting taunted by bulbs I earned but would never be rewarded lol 😃

And also meant to add.... you know what Id like.... I would like to be able to give my "earned but never to be rewarded bulbs" to folk who didn't have the time that month to complete the map... like a gifting system. I think that would be a lovely addition to the game and would promote a positive community thing ❤️

Sidenote: I said hello to someone today in Ops and they did "the brown emote", I responded by doing a crying face and they then said sorry 😃 hahahaa

Regarding the 51th Bulb thing. It happened to me as well. We are so lucky! 🤣

@Iron_Guard8I remember someone compared the market here to the way buying cosmetics work in free to play battle royals games. Since people actually spent money to buy the game, I think it is only fair if the costumes were at least more accessible.
Although the role of the Reward-o-tron is being wasted, my solution would be to make Rainbow stars easier to obtain. Not just by getting more through challenges and prize maps, but by also being able to trade in coins/currency for Rainbow stars.
Or make cosmetics available to buy with coin prices or rainbow star prices separately
