Skill based matchmaking is not filling up lobbies

Having issues in quite a few lobbies that will not fill up because of this.  It is getting to the point of not even playing when 2 to 4

players each side takes so long to complete.

I have also noticed since we aren't on a certain server anymore that there is quite a bit of lag unsure if it is due to the

matchmaking or not.  I can see I will not be playing half as much anymore with this change.

You can manually change the server you connect to.  I started doing that because I hated getting put in the same game over and over again.  I'm a maxed level player but I'm nowhere near that great so whatever this new matching system is, it's not great.

I've been having the same experience. Makes getting the 90 stars a real drag. The system did seem to work for Boss Hunt, it's too bad they can't somehow limit it to just boss hunt. Honestly, even in a brand new game with thousands of players I'm not sure this is a good idea. GW as a series is far from competitive with all of the balancing issues and bugs. So to add a competitive match making system just seems pointless.

Even then, the deciding factor is rank. I can say I am moderate at best even though I am max rank. Just because I played with a character until it was mastered doesn't inherently mean I am good with it. At least for me this has lead to me getting into lobbies where I am on the ground most of the time. I can only stand so much of that before I give up for the day. (This all assumes I'm not dealing with someone abusing a bug, that only makes it that much worse.)

At least for now it is limited to only Mystery Portal and that only requires 90 stars per week. (Any more is optional, and outside boss hunt usually worse than normal TT.)

Tip - I found that playing the portal early (Thu - Fri) and playing during earlier hours (afternoon vs. evening) led to pretty good lobbies.  Playing at night was a drag.

  • I noticed over the weekend regular match ups seemed to be like the were before.  Did they disable SBM?  It was actually pretty decent playing Tuft Takeover over the weekend.

I've said it in other games even when people have scoffed; rank/level does not equal skill. I'm max ranked but I'd never claim to be amazing. I am at least competent but I'm not a fan of tooting my own horn in any situation and like everyone get amazing matches and off days. Most games like this I've played the level system is mostly time played, a mediocre or poor player with a lot of time can hit max rank before a brilliant newbie.

There is/was a team of max rankers in PC, @Gormey knows them well, that team stack and swap. They are solid players but I took a special satisfaction in our beating them when they would team swap in an event to stack one side and we'd switch to the smaller team to help balance it and teach them to assume they would always win. Never been a fan of swapping off a team just because I'm losing although I may just leave the game altogether and go play something else instead.
