Spawnable discussion: Fire peashooter, Snapdragon, and Mr. Toasty

Fire peashooter, Snapdragon and Mr. Toasty

Fire peashooter

Gw1 description: Shoots Zombies with flaming peas, which causes burning damage over time.

Has 50 health and is a long range fire pot.

Shoot the fire pea cannon a weapon the same as ice peashooter that does 13-18 damage based on distance and applies fire damage that deals 5

damage per second for 5 seconds

.

It and Bamboo Shoot are the only new plants from Plants vs. Zombies Adventures that appear in gw.

While not in gw2 as a spawnable he still appears to give a quest in the backyard but he claims he's just a pea cannon on fire.

Snapdragon

Gw description: Unleashes his firey breath which does additional damage over time.

Has 90 health and is a close range fire pot.

Attacks with flame breath. In gw1 it attacks for seven damage along with the fire effect, it also ignored armor apparently (gw1 pots are weird). In gw2 it merely applies fire damage resulting it about 44 damage over time.

Has gw1 cat dragon variant: With a such fiery disposition, we're amazed he's able to keep from burning his whiskers.

Mr Toasty

Gw2 description: Whether you're looking to roast marshmallows, or some pesky weeds, Mr Toasty's got your back.

Has 80 health and is a close range fire bot

Attacks with the toasty flame and applies fire damage that for some reason only deals 36 total damage.

Thoughts?

Fire peashooter is great and is a very nice plant utilize with ice peashooter to stall and burn zombies but is weaker than the stock pea cannon, still a great pot.

Snapdragon was sadly never really a good pot even back in gw1 however popcap still decided to nerf him in 2 lmao. He's even worse than bonk choy in the long run in 2 as he lacks the damage to handle mass numbers and can't one shot armor like bonk choy can in 1 and in 2 only applies burn damage which sadly allows coneheads to solo him despite his rather solid health.

Mr Toasty seems even worse than snapdragon as he has less health and damage for no good reason. Has a cool design though.

These 2 would've been useless in bfn since fire doesn't fully kill its targets and the hit detection, positioning, and tv heads would've slaughtered them.

They should buff snapdragon to practically melt any zombie who comes near him. Make him a raging high damage wide spread flamethrower. Buff Mr Toasty to be his equal so they arent at disadvantages to each other as there is no real need for difference between them.

  • Fire in BfN is another of the game's shortcomings. Wasn't it actually healing zombies at one point?

We can certainly keep Snapdragon as a character and bring the pot back. It works fine for other plants like Peashooters.

I love Mr. Toasty, the laugh and flame effects are great. But I hardly use him or the Snapdragon, due to their limitations, especially range.

The shorter the range a pot/bot has, the more health they should generally have, and that definitely applies to these 2.

Make their health and damage similar, or make one do more damage in a shorter burst, while the other does the same damage but takes a bit longer to do so (burst flame over sustained), or some other way to make them distinct but equivalent.

Fire can be annoying in GW and GW2 but it was never that bad, and I'd rather have that than how odd it is in BfN.

Fire Peashooter needs to return of course. More options for pots/bots are always welcome.

@Iron_Guard8Yes it did heal zombies on founders lmao.

I love the bots evil little laughs and weapon looks.

I think snapdragon's health is ok its just hie damage that is trash and need to be buffed to incinerate zombies.

Agreed make them similar or have slight differences.

Afterburn is annoying but thats kinda the whole point and fire variants usually have low dps or ammo to begin with.

Bfn has so many weird mechanics like spikeweed dealing 100 damage and basically being crappy potato mine, imp not dying in z mech alongside his gravity grenade being run into the ground, how he has to wind up impkata, and how capture points work in general.

  • Time to make some toast with these summonables!

    Introduction

The Snapdragon and Mr. Toasty are summonable variants that deal fire damage to enemies that are hit by them, which slowly saps at their health for a limited time, even if they stop being attacked by these summonables. These summonables work in a very similar way to each other, except for some reason Mr. Toasty does slightly less damage overall and has slightly less health compared to Snapdragon. This is really useful for dealing additional damage to enemies and making them easier to vanquish, as well as negating their regeneration while they are taking the lingering fire damage. They are limited to attacking at quite close range, however they have quite a significant health pool.

    My Thoughts

These summonables can really be useful for unsuspecting enemies, the extra damage that enemies will take over time will make them much easier to vanquish due to them being weakened by the lingering fire damage. The close range can make it quite difficult for them to be useful if enemies are out of range, but the significant health should make it easier for them to survive. For some reason, however, the Mr. Toasty deals less overall fire damage and has slightly less health than the Snapdragon, with no other differences, which makes like basically no sense at all. These summonables can serve to be quite useful now, but changes I would suggest to these summonables include buffing the Mr. Toasty to match Snapdragon's damage and health, and then to give them some direct damage (which would be low but rapid dealing while caught in the fire) and to slightly increase their range.

I would give these summonables a Medium difficulty to defeat overall. This is because it can really depend on what is going on, if you get caught off guard around a corner or something, you may have an issue dealing with them or you could even get vanquished. If you spot one of these summonables, keep your distance and shoot it down before it ends up posing a threat to you or any of your allies. These summonables can deal a high amount of damage with their lingering fire effect, and it will negate your regeneration for a while if you are on fire, so if you are hit, try and find cover to wait out the fire damage, or try to get back to your team, especially if you can find a healer to outheal your fire damage. Worst case, if you end up getting vanquished, hopefully your team can simply revive you.

Neither of these summonables are in Battle for Neighborville, but if these summonables were in the game, I would actually give them a 2 minute cooldown, or even possibly less. This is because the close range summonables never really perform well in this game. Additionally, I actually forgot before, but the fire damage actually is unable to vanquish an enemy in the game, meaning they are completely unable to vanquish an enemy by themselves and without an ally finishing the job. Overall, these summonables would never really perform well due to those previous reasons, so they should not have that much of a cooldown at all. In fact, it would maybe even be worth saying that they could have no cooldown, because it would probably be better to place other summonables anyway.

    In A Future Shooter

These summonables can absolutely prove to be useful and I would like to see them appear in a future shooter. The extra damage over time and the negated regeneration can be helpful for vanquishing the affected enemies, although they are limited to attacking at closer ranges. I would recommend giving them a cost of around 2,500 Coins each for this reason, and giving them an unlock cost of 10,000 Coins each, but with the unlock, you would get 5 of them as a starter set, giving more value with the unlock. They should be relatively easy to obtain for players, including in large numbers if that is what players want to invest in, so hopefully these costs will cover it well.

    Overall

These summonables can really be useful but remember that they have their limits, so I would suggest that they would be quite easily obtained and in large numbers if players want to invest in that, as well as having an unlock cost, which will make them harder to get early on, but once unlocked, players get a good value and they can purchase them when they want. They can really be useful, but changes I suggest making to them include buffing Mr. Toasty to match the health and damage of Snapdragon (there is no reason for Mr. Toasty to be a direct downgrade counterpart to Snapdragon) and then, after that, giving them direct damage which will be low but rapid while enemies are caught in it and to slightly buff the range of these summonable variants, to make them perform even better.

@TheSprinter85 In gw1 snapdragon dealt a slow 7 damage impact attack combined with the flames and he ignored armor for some bizarre reason but he was still pretty meh and died quickly.

Giving him back the damage but with more range seems like a good deal as it would help him without making him overpowered and overshadow bonk choy.
