Okay am I missing something? Why do people suddenly think this is a thing that's done. Can you name even one other PC game with split screen?
It can't be done, because it's a horrible idea. Seems to be over one hundred. Most recent being Black Ops III.

It CAN be done, and it's not a horrible idea if you have friends who would like to dive into it with you.
The PC is much more capable than consoles, I don't see the negativity towards it.
I understand PC is usually meant for single players, but with the advent of gaming PCs, and being able to play these games on a TV, it's not such a bad idea.- ApprovedAnonymous10 years ago
Most of those games aren't split screen. They're sharing a screen. Which is a massive difference and isn't a horrible idea. It heavily restricts what they can do because one player can't move on without the other player. In a shooter game it just wouldn't work.
And in the case of Black Ops III (god knows they don't have a decent split screen system) you need a second monitor. It's a horrible idea. PCs not exactly meant for singleplayer either, it's just not meant for two people to use one computer and play it via split screen.
Once more so you actually get it, it's a horrible idea. Then what makes a console much better for doing the same task? I understand a console is meant for multiplayer, but come on, just because it's a PC doesn't mean it cannot do the same thing.
Blur is an actual split screen game. It's like a mario kart on steroids.

And Blur had a massive list of issues with it's split screen. To quote some of these issues:
"1. With 1 XBox 360 controller and 1 keyboard plugged in, it is impossible for one player to use keyboard and one to use the controller.
2. Figuring out the keyboard controls for player 2 (where player 2 is using the keyboard) is nearly impossible, I've worked out that:
Arrow Keys = movement (accell/regular brake/steer)
Numpad 9 = Shoot foward
Numpad 6 = Shoot backwards
Numpad 3 = Look backwards
...
There appears to be NO BINDING for e-break. :o"
In order to get the controller working for a second player they had to boot up an emulator.
And the console isn't just meant for multiplayer, but it can get away with split screen because a console always uses a television. I understand that you can use a pc with a monitor but the majority of people who have PCs don't do that, so most game developers will not go out of their way to make split screen available for PC. Because even in a situation where you use a television, the split screen would have issues for whoever ends up playing with the keyboard. Blur plays perfectly fine on my machine with 2 controllers, no emulator. Another split screen game is Portal, as well as Left 4 Dead.
What's with the negativity towards split screen?
I guess it's simply a pipe dream. PC didn't get split screen for GW1, and apparently it is local play only as well. No online multiplayer.
Funny how a Nintendo 64 could pull off 4 player split screen, just 20 years ago.
Gotta admit, this game SHOULD of had split screen for PC. If i had known before hand i'd of got PvZ GW 2 on PS4 like i did GW1 as me and my other half loved playing together. Who-ever said it's a bad idea needs to find a better arguement for his case. As another said, if n64 could do 4-player split screen almost 20 years ago, what's stopping the PC gaming machines of this generation? I'm rocking sli gtx 980 ti amp extreme so id expect to comfortably split screen this......only a small disappointment though considering how much win this game has

The screen is stopping the PC. The MONITOR.
Not everyone plays on a 15" monitor at 1024x768.

I use 1600x900 personally, but that's not the way the industry looks at it.
The industry looks at it as "Not everyone uses a monitor big enough to warrant a split screen option." One of my friends uses a triple monitor setup with proper wide screen displays and he agrees that split screen for PCs is a stupid idea.
