Splitscreen questions.

Is there a comprehensive list somewhere regarding splitscreen? Or can anyone tell what it will and wont allow? EA / popcap I think has been very misleading since the beginning about this.
1) So I guess you cant do splitscreen to play online multiplayer? Thats what I was looking foward to.
It will allow this only locally with AI bots?
2) guess you can't do quests together?
3) garden ops. Only 2 local and 2 AI?

For 4 person Co-Op you have a few options. If you have 4 friends online playing you can Invite them into your Backyard Battlefield, or you can join theirs, and form a team of up to 4 players with the player whose Backyard you're in being designated Group Leader- so if they came to you, then you are Group Leader and if you when to someone else then they're Group Leader.

When you have visitors in your Backyard the single player quests, L.E.A.F. Agent, Top Zombie, Delivery Quests, get locked out until you are alone in your Backyard again.

The Group Leader can then carry the other members of the team into a Garden Op, Graveyard Op or into Infinity Time where you play with your team. If they enter Multiplayer you can't be guaranteed to stay together because if neither side in Multiplayer has room for all of the people in your team you'll be split up between Plants and Zombies.

If you don't have friends online you can join Garden Ops or Graveyard Ops and either start your own game session and wait for other players to join you, either before starting or joining in-progress, or you can elect to search for and join a Co-Op game which is already in progress.

Garden Warfare started out as a multiplayer-only online shooter. It did offer one mode that could be played in single-player or split-screen (on Xbox One and PS4) though: Garden Ops. However, the game required Xbox Live or PS+ to even play, so nobody could actually buy it for offline play.

The new game improves on offline support dramatically. You can now play all game types in single-player without the need for Xbox Live or PS+. Whichever modes you choose, the game supplies bots as enemies, 🤓

2-player split-screen has gotten much better as well. Now both players can use their own profiles, making progress and earning Achievements independently. At last, people might actually want to play split-screen! Sadly, split-screen players can't join in online games – another oversight. But at least local teams can battle bots together.

    The Co-Op Experience

Rally the zombies together and defend against the plants in the 4-player co-op mode, Graveyard Ops, or play through every game mode with the help of a friend in local split screen against enemy A.I.

new cooperative game mode: Zombie Ops. It works just like Garden Ops, but with the teams reversed. A team of up to four players will play as the zombies against waves of AI plants. Just like Garden Ops, the zombie team will have to fight giant bosses on some waves. The bosses we faced were Giga Torchwoods, gigantic flaming tree stumps.

n between certain waves, Crazy Dave now scatters presents across the map. The team will have to rush to grab them before the next wave starts. The presents I grabbed contained money, though some of them might also hold consumable defense items as well.

After completing the final wave, the zombie team must reach an evacuation point and survive the oncoming plants for several seconds, much as in Garden Ops. Zombie Ops proved just as fun as anything I played in the previous game – maybe even moreso.

Not quite true. The game still requires a constant internet connection. It improved single player experiences not offline experiences.

So I guess I'm wondering about splitscreen as a guest of a singular xbox live account. In the first PVZ GW, the guest had access to all characters that the host account had. Is there a reason that is no longer the case? My girlfriend and I always enjoyed playing together, but she can't use the characters I've unlocked anymore. Could this please be fixed? Thanks in advance :-)

I don't have an XBox but in the PS4 version each player must sign in on their own account so each person has access only to those things they've unlocked on their own account. So when I play with my wife even though I have every character unlocked she's limited to just the basic characters since she hasn't played enough on her own to unlock any variants.

Are you on PC?  No split screen on PC.  On console you will get a prompt when you are next to the TV sets.
