Super commando

Anyone know if this former powerhouse will be restored to even USABLE after the next patch?
Aiming is completely changed and he basically does NO damage anymore. Sad too, because he used to be awesome. I know you want to encourage using new character toes since it's a new installment but it'd be nice to have something familiar which works when getting hammered. This guy has been broken in my opinion. So do I just need to find a new favorite? Hope not.
Thanks.

  • Make do with the Z3 crossbow instead or find a new favorite. Sorry, but the commando was just as overused as the fire elemental variants in the last game - and that's why they got nerfed.

Now, bluntness aside - try and judge him after getting a few upgrades. (and after rose gets nerfed)

Did you use the commando in the first one? I'm thinking no because that was some good fun, but you have to know how to do it. Not everyone did, and quite often I'd be the only one in the room with him so I'm just not seeing what you are saying bro. I disagree.
I've been leveling the new one up, but it's just not worth it so far.
What's your new zombie? I like tennis pro, AC Perry, or the rock engineer for close q.

coming from a guy who extensively used the super commander in GW1 HE NEEDED THAT NERF I played him cause I thought he was cool and not many others used him I noticed he was killing stuff very quickly, once you got more of his traits unlocked he was a one man army like Rambo to the point he could ONE SHOT most sunflowers and peashooters so him being nerfed is required im sorry to tell you no matter how much you either loved him or exploited his power back in GW1 what he is in GW2 is balanced out better.

  • I played my fair share of the commando in GW1 - and I did go beast-mode with him quite a few times. However, when I had him fully upgraded, like the guy above me, it just felt plain unfair. 1-2 clever bursts and most plants were dead.

I began to look at the team comps when I was playing for/against the zombies and on the PC, there'd usually be an overwhelming amount of soldiers on rooftops playing either the commando or the camo ranger. (Hell, I'd even see some paleontologists "sniping" if they could.) I'd even see some GnG games where they'd sit up there the entire game and not even try to push the point.

After seeing months and months of the same stereotypical trends playing with/against Super commandos - I just had more fun killing them. (Usually with a Future, Normal, or Jade Cactus. Just felt right to counter-snipe the predictable ones.)

TLDR: He's fun to play - but he was overtuned, causing him to be overused. (Kinda like how Rose is currently, except you could counter him)

Edit: And as for the new variants, AC Perry's pretty fun, Roadie Z's fun to mess around with if you can get close enough. I've probably had the most fun messing with the corn/citron classes on plants and Deadbeard/motocross star/park ranger for the zombies.

Ok, i didnt read the wall of text you to have put as it all feels like you're getting a bit to personal with eachother.

As for the topic at hand,

Yes the Supermando (sic?) Is not as prolific as he once was but i still use him..ALOT and enjoy it. His 3 round burst can do around 36 - 42 damage at long range, infact he is more potent that the Cactus and great for distance sniping.

Personally, i'd keep him as he is, i like the changes. Feels more balanced as he was over-used and a little to strong in GW1

  • i still find ssuper commando fun to play, he totally wrecks Roses... one of the best anti rose variants after the cricket star
