team balance is mostly fine map balance is terrible
I keep saying this but I don't hear popcap talking about this in any significant way. Turf takeover map balance sucks, the attackers have way to hard of a time attacking. Several points are almost impossible to take as an attacker (no matter if your plants or zombies) and a lot of the final objectives have been over tuned to the point where you're not likely to win. This case is especially true in Zomburbia and Zombopopolis and seeds of time. Good luck to the plants trying to destroy zombot and good luck to zombies trying to use to bootering ram to knock down Rose's castle door. And of course this is after a very grueling point for the zombies to cap (dino land). Even if the plants do get dino land Zgypt is very tough to cap and so is the Azia as well. The plants have an equally hard uphill battle in Zomburbia as well, the second point is near impossible to take but even if the plants do take it the next two points are about the same to capture. If the plants make it through a tough uphill battle their reward in Zomburbia is a "new and improved" and almost impossible to win final scenario where you have to rash a party. It's literally not even fun to play anymore, I know if I'm going to win any map with on simple question, "Am I offense of defense"? If I'm offense I lose, if im defense I win, guaranteed. (not including moon base Z the last bastion for fun turf takeover games.
I didn't hear a single person talking about turf take over map imbalance and yet popcap decided to make it even harder for plants to capture a point. (Same with all the cacti nerfs). This leads me to believe that they have no internal play testers (except maybe a handful of developers) and they just look at numbers and raw data that don't necessarily equate to actual performance, especially in a chaotix video game like PvZ GW2. The only map the attacks have a chance at winning is Moon Base Z and that's because it's more of a "soccer" type game than a blow something up type game.
Also I reported a rose bug for Xbone 2 patches ago (and ive seen other people report it too) where her reticle stops turning red and I have to physically reboot the game (close and relaunch) to get her homing to work again. Nothing has been done about it....NOTHING, basically if I want to play Rose and this very common bug crops up I am forced to either quit game mid session or just choose another class. Do you have any idea how hard it is to play Rose with her homing ability not working?
While I'm on a rant I don't think the devs have the money for play testers that's why this game is a roller coaster ride of balance issues. If they had play testers I don't think a lot of what happens in this game would actually happen. If there are play testers fire them because they obviously aren't doing their job. If it's an issue where popcap doesn't have the resources for play testers fine, just tell that to the community so we know where to set our expectations. Stop just reading data and blindly making balance changes with no one to really test them. Because changes are slow to come along and I know it's going to be weeks of turf take over loses as a result of the "balancing"
Lastly, I'm tired of how smug and quiet the devs are. They act like they are doing us the largest favor in the world by giving us news about the game during "Live at Popcap" They should be more open and communicate with the game as a whole. Like I said before I don't expect people working on the game to drop by and answer these posts directly, that's just crazy. However LoL does a great job addressing their commuity and so do several other games, and not just during their wonky "Live at Popcap" type events. Their employees actually make use of the forums. Popcap's community manager is very poor at actually managing his community having events on live at popcap and making fans of the game take notes and pass the info along in the forums and reddit. Just to be clear I don't mean the EA community managers who come in here and work with the forums, I feel they do they best they can but aren't allowed to do or say anything of real significance. I look at the EA community managers as Bishops and we have to pray to them so our message get to the might uncaring popcap community gods.
PS. stop having the plants spawn point almost on top of a moving train in zombopopolis, who did that?
PSS. I'm too frustrated to spell of grammar check this, good luck.
