The problem is not about balance. The problem is that a 12v12 game is totally chaotic with little skill involved. It is easier to make a difference when there are a lot more small skirmishes and not a big bloob of players
Only time i really notice big blobs of players flocking to the same location is on the seeds of time map where the center part basically turns into king of the hill. On most of the maps I like to sneak around the sides tho and stay out of the main path. Is that what u mean?
Most of the maps have at least 3 "lanes" and if I want the smaller skirmishes ur talking about, i use the less traveled paths. Thats how i play. I can see how u feel 12v12 is too much. I felt the same way at first too. Guess i got used to it because the chaos seems to have subsided a bit and im able to focus and make better decisions.
I do usually prefer the smaller, more intimate, battles as well. I think most of the TV maps are capable of that if u travel the right areas. Dont always go toward the enemies icons and remember that they can see yours. It can be tricky and challenging but possible.
