The Kings Day Out: A Tutorial
The Kings Day Out is a Boss Hunt in which the Players operate as a team of Plants against a horde of Zombies, Ice Variant Zombie Heroes and Yeti Variants. The game mode relies heavily on coordinated team work between four (4) Players. Microphones are encouraged.
Should the team all be vanquished simultaneously only one retry is allowed.
TIME LIMIT: 30 Minutes
There is a time limit to game play and should the thirty (30) minutes allowed for play expire The Yeti King will become "Enraged" and at that point Boss Hunt will make every effort to completely destroy the Players as the difficulty will dramatically increase with additional Zombies spawning in. Once The Yeti King become Enraged you have only 90 additional seconds to vanquish him before the game is lost.
ZOMBIE OPPONENTS
The Zombie enemies featured in the The Kings Day Out Boss Hunt are limited but can appear in larger hordes. When selecting your character class base your choice on how well you can tackle these types of Zombie opponents;
THE BOSS: THE YETI KING
The Yeti King is a High Health variant of the standard Yeti Boss, differentiated by the crown that he wears; This is the same Yeti King that the Zombies seek to free in The Frozen North Turf Takeover map. Similar to The Spooky Squash Boss Hunt the Yeti King's Health pool is exponentially larger than the standard Boss and a special set of tasks must be undertaken in order for the Plants to be able to significantly damage him.
THE KINGS FOOL
The Kings Fool is a special Zombie Champion who carries a Slushie which is the key to being able to summon Super Sunshine Power enabling them to temporarily deal large amounts of damage to The Yeti King.

TEAM COMPOSITION
Character choice plays a large role in the success or failure of the Boss Hunt as well as the individual skill level of each Player, how well they can use their chosen Character and how well they can function as a team both with or without verbal instructions,
When reviewing the composition of your team bear in mind that most of the enemies and Boss level characters in this Boss Hunt have the capability to freeze you; being within range of a Heal Flower or having a Heal Beam targeting you will cancel or otherwise prevent the typical slowing and eventual freezing inflicted by Ice variant enemies so it is highly recommended that your team contain two Sunflowers.
Basic team composition must include at least one Sunflower, if not two or more. The Vampire Sunflower variant is useful due to the fact that when she inflicts damage she heals herself. The Electric variants is useful due to the arcing electricity which results from a hit and the Fire Flower is also useful due to the extra burn damage inflicted over time. When selecting a Sunflower it is suggested that you use the Rainbow Heal Flower variant rather than the default, should you have it available to you, as the Rainbow Heal Flower drops single Sundrops constantly rather than small groups of them every few seconds.
The elevated Health of the Citron class and Peel Shield makes them a good fit for a team as well as the fact that they possess a Speed boosting ability which will be useful when The Yeti King Begins to Dance. The EMPeach ability is also useful for slowing down the rapidly moving Yeti Bosses.
The Peashooter also benefits from a Speed boosting special ability as well as their Chili Bean bomb and a selection of elemental based variants. Toxic Pea is preferred due to the Toxic aura which can effect nearby enemies but any of the Peashooter variants can provide an advantage.
The Kernal Corn class is useful due to the Shuck Shot and Husk Hop abilities and the Butter Barrage/Bigger Better Butter airstrike can be useful against stationary Yeti Bosses; BBQ Corn might be preferable due to the Fire effect associated with his primary weapon.
The Rose is another class where the Toxic, Fire and Ice variants can be useful. Roses with their Homing Upgrade enabled are preferred but due to their lower Health Rose players should be adept at keeping their character alive. Goatify will be useful against the Ice Variant Zombie Heros and Time Snare can be used to slow down the fast moving yeti Bosses.
Torchwood, due to his high Health, Leaf Shield, Blaz'n Blast, and Smoldering Madness can contribute greatly if used properly.
Chompers are not recommended due to the fact that the class, with the exception of the Yeti Chomper, is exclusively Melee and Close Range; since the Yeti Bosses have the ability to instantly freeze characters within Close Range, and the majority of the Zombie Heroes all inflict ice damage with the associated movement penalty and freezing the Chomper class is not well suited to this Boss Hunt.
The Cactus Class is another class which is not recommended. Since most of the Cactus Class have a slower rate of fire and a focus on long range this particular class will require a higher level of skill in order to successfully survive and contribute during the Boss Hunt.
MAP LAYOUT
This Boss Hunt takes place in Frosty Creek, with the area near the logging mill and piles of lumber being where the Bait will be initially placed.
STARTING THE GAME
The game will not start until four (4) Players have entered the map. The first task will be to choose a Contraption to lure the Plants; the choice of Bait will determine the difficulty level and the first person to arrive at the baiting location is allowed to choose the Bait, and therefore the difficulty level;
Normal Mode: Ice Cream Cone
Hard Mode: Enchanted Ice Cream Cone
Crazy Mode: Scrumptious Ice Cream Cone
Once the Bait has been chosen it must be defended through three waves of Zombie enemies beginning with a basic force of Bowncoat variants and Exploding Imps
THE KINGS ARMY APPROACHES
Beginning with the second Wave after the Bait is set you will experience another Wave of Browncoats mixed with hordes of Yeti Imps and some Ice variant Zombie Heroes
THE ICE CREAM KEEPS COOL
The Kings Army will return and will contain Browncoat variants, Ice variant Zombie Heroes, Yeti Imps and a standard Yeti Boss. During these waves try to remain near a Heal Flower and Sunflower players should be certain to have their heal Beams in use to minimize the freezing effects.. This Wave will repeat throughout the Boss Hunt.
THE YETI KING
After The Ice Cream Keeps Cool the Yeti King will spawn at the bait site; it is advised that the players keep clear of this area when it become clear that the previous Wave is almost completely defeated. After the Yeti King Spawns he will be accompanied by the same mix of Zombie opponents as the previous Wave.
At this point the Yeti King should be avoided; while not invulnerable his Health pool is vast and the characters at this point cannot inflict any meaningful damage and should instead keep clear of him and concentrate on eliminating members of The Kings Army instead.
THE YETI KING BEGINS TO DANCE
After a short time the Yeti King will Begin to Dance. The act of him dancing will introduce a Disco Zombie Boss to the Army and will begin to summon Winters Grasp.
WINTERS GRASP
While the Yeti King begins to Dance the team will be branded with a Skull brand floating above them. At the same time a countdown timer will appear and Popsicles will begin to spawn throughout the map; they can be either at ground level or up high on terrain features.
The team must destroy each Popsicle before the timer expires; each Popsicle destroyed will add additional seconds to the timer. During this phase the team should split into pairs with one character concentrating on destroying the Popsickles while the other acts as a bodyguard and defends their partner from spawning Zombies.
If the team fails and the countdown expires Winters Grasp will descend and the characters will be frozen, instantly vanquishing the entire team.
THE YETI KING WAS INTERRUPTED
If the team successfully destroys all Popsickles within the time limit the summoning of Winters Grasp will be blocked and the Boss Hunt will continue.
THE KINGS FOOL APPEARS
After Winters Grasp has been successfully avoided The Kings Fool will appear. This will be a special Zombie Champion which must be vanquished to grant the team Super Sunshine Power.
SPRINGS RADIANCE AND SUPER SUNSHINE POWER
Super Sunshine Power is a special status which is granted during a timed event called Springs Radiance to the one Plant team member who drinks the King's Zhlurpie dropped by The Kings Fool after he is vanquished.
Springs Radiance will massively Buff the damage of the character granted the power and will place them at the center of a Super Sunshine Power field, marked in green, which will move with them. While other members of the team will not be granted Super Sunshine Power by default they can gain the same benefits by remaining within the marked area around the character carrying the field.
For the team to gain the benefits of Super Sunshine Power they must stay closely grouped to the character in the epicenter and to move as a unit. Springs Radiance is temporary and the timer will be visible in the upper right corner of the screen so the group should move immediately towards the Yeti King in order to be able to inflict as much damage as possible before the Buff expires; just be certain not to approach too closely so you won't be subject to the Kings close quarters freezing attack.
Keep the Player carrying Springs Radiance alive at all costs; should they be vanquished the Buff will immediately expire.
THE HUNT CONTINUES
After the Super Sunshine Power buff expires the Boss Hunt will continue as before with another wave of The Kings Army and will repeat the previous events of The Yeti King Dances, Winters Grasp and The Kings Fool Appears until the team is able to successfully vanquish The Yeti King.
