The State of Citron

(I know there has been a thread on this but sorry can't seem to find it so posting a new one :/ )

Holy cow this character needs help. I've played through to Super Elite recently as my continued quest to get all to Master, but find him so underpowered.

Primary Weapon is weak and high precision needed.

Shield is useful for objectives but you can't shoot or do anything, just sit and wait for it to break and then die.

Navel Laser, good damage but like threading a needle to hit anyone. Also you can't shield so sitting duck.

Spin Dash takes too long to activate, meaning useless in middle of fight (contrast with All Star dash which you can use mid fight).

EMPeach is an average ability.

How on Earth are you meant to do well with this character?

I've played several hours with them all now and I think Citron needs the most help in the next balancing. Or maybe I just don't know how to play him? I struggle with them all at first but eventually it clicks and I do well.. not happening for our orangey pal so far.

@spIash_damageWhat damage is dash dealing? I never had the feeling of it being op. Compared to All Star Citron is just a bad joke. I know that it is hard to compare certain classes due to different abilities but Citron is not near being somewhat op. I would not mind to shield Naval Laser without any nerfs. There is a reason why nobody wants to play Citron.

Edit: damaging the shield while Naval Laser is active could reduce the Lasers duration.

The dash deals 75 hp now (one shot Imps).

Agreed but a proficient upgrade to his shield would change that (comparing Citron to All Star).

I just need to make a video of the potential of Citron.  Team play is more vital in BA than most any mode I’ve played in any game and that’s what’s caused me to realize the power of Citron (as is).  I can attack or support with him.

EDIT: @realitysquared  the ability to pull up shield/cancel laser would be a good place to start.  I just saw your reply.

@GutmanScaI understand your frustration but please watch your language, this is a public forum and a safe place to give helpful feedback about the game. 🙂

I think you might have overthought or personalizes his reply.  gutman is usually nice and might not be American; can’t remember.

I don't know gutman personally and sure he is a nice guy. I did find his response a little disrespectful in this instance. Not a big deal of course and soon forgotten. No beef. But thought i should post this reply to respect pineapple for calling it out my behalf. Appreciated.

That’s understandable but community managers prefer to handle these issues (I don’t even call people out publicly or handle these issues personally).

You know what would be interesting to give as an upgrade to Citron?

Giving him an Upgrade that allows him to use his primary weapon while shielding. If so, it could cost 5 upgrade points (or possibly even more) and you would still have to hold the shield button for it to work, as well as the shield can still be killed and have to wait for it to recharge. It would encourage more people to use the shield for themselves and their allies, and can provide some cover fire. Sunflower can also do the same - she can heal people, while providing cover fire. Why can't Citron? The developers should also an upgrade for Scientist which allows him to shoot while healing. It makes sense, doesn't it? 🙂

@TheSprinter85letting him shoot with the shield up might make him op. every time you want to 1v1 a citron you would have to punch through a 400 hp shield and tank his stun while he is shooting you. doesn't sound fun to fight imo. if it cost 7 upgrade points and made the shield have 1/2 hp it might be fine.

@chogath_player  Perhaps if his Primary Weapon did less damage at further ranges, it wouldn't be too overpowered, but I have to understand and agree with your point! 🙂
