Turf Takeover Weekly Event - My Turf, My Rules!

Hello all,

What's everyone thoughts on this new weekly mode that's out? It's Turf Takeover and you can only use Roses and Snapdragons on the plant side, or Electric Slides and Super Brainz on the zombie side.

I played several matches just before posting this, and found that in 4 of the 5 games, plants won and that the defending team won 4 of the 5 games as well. Each of the maps cycle through, and to be conclusive from those matches, it seems like plants and the defending team both have an advantage, especially when paired together!

As of for the weekly challenges, they are as follows:

Spoiler
1. Get 3 vanquishes in a match.
2. Win 2 matches.
3. Deal 10,000 damage.

These challenges seem more time consuming than hard, but can still be annoying to some of those players who don't want to spend a huge amount of time playing on this mode. I will share my tips for these challenges shortly. ๐Ÿ™‚

So any thoughts anyone? ๐Ÿ™‚

Regards

@TheSprinter85

  • @Iron_Guard8 I totally agree. Without the pressure of challenges which literally force you into competition with every other player on the field, friend or foe, for the one spawn of a limited resource I've had a lot more fun.

I'm hoping that Power Team Vanquish was the last weekly challenge we get with an overly specific/frustrating to complete requirement.

Last weeks Suburban Isolation mode reminded me of how fun the game could be to just play when a particular mechanic wasn't messing things up by drawing attention to how miscalibrated it was in terms of actual gameplay.

Hopefully Turf Takeover goes back to being fun again so I can go back to playing it without having the futility of trying to sprinting across the map as a defender to contest an objective flung in my face constantly.

Nope I haven't had that either, that's so nice... actual  teamwork... wow!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Still hate superbrainz though both to play and play against, he my least least, least favourite... just a big gallooting bully โ˜น๏ธ

  • @asabaida If you happen to be playing Snap Dragon and you see a nearby Super Brainz launch his Hyper Jump Thump immediately hit your Blue Blazes and try to keep yourself pointed at where you think he'll land.

The "launch time" for Blue Blazes is roughly equal to the amount of time a Super Brainz is airborne during Hyper Jump Thump so if you can get yourself pointed at where he'll hit the ground he'll pull you in just in time for you to spit Blue Blazes into his face.

Sometimes you'll miss but I've gotten a number of vanquishes that way.

Thanks for all of your input so far! ๐Ÿ™‚

Even though this is still a spin-off of a currently available mode in the portal, I think it's a great idea to have these kinds of events in the future, it makes the game mode more interesting and the challenges are achievable and not too hard, they also don't encourage going off from your team - staying with your team still can easily net you these challenges.

The game mode also encourages you to play as specific characters as well - which I think is a good idea because there may be players who don't use these characters a whole lot and this event only gives you a limited choice of characters to play as or against.

So, overall, I really like this game mode and hope the developers continue to do weekly modes like these! ๐Ÿ™‚

I went ahead and gave this mode a shot. It went pretty well, much better than I had expected. I also finally got to see Preserve Pastures for the first time. I really enjoy the map but the last point seems rough for the zombies. I'd have to play it more to really tell if that's true though. I also got it on normal TT after I was having trouble getting a lobby for the event at first, but then was able to get it to go without any issues.

I finished the challenges off last night after some Ops with @asabaida as the roads were awful so stayed home and played a big chunk of BfN. It was nice having challenges that weren't obnoxious or counterproductive.

@realitysquared  dammit, I forgot this piece of good advice from last time... could have done with remembering that while doing the challenges... oh well ๐Ÿ˜ƒ I will remember now though ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • @asabaida I haven't attempted event yet - game wouldn't load when I tried last night & when I went in a little while ago, the portal wasn't responding when I tried getting the game mode options up ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
Just about managed doing my dailies in PvE, but hard work as everything's really, really laggy, despite ping being ok.
Will try again later, I guess, but think I mostly enjoyed this last time round when teams were even, so fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž
