@JonnyTyler820Gw1- the turf maps were adventures to explore everytime and ops is fun and challenging, while not as balanced as much people think the class design was a lot tighter for the offense defense playstyles of the times especially the zombies, more pots and zombies than bfn, I think being the first is the only thing that holds back gw1 because a lot of what could be improved upon, was in gw2.
Gw2- easily my favorite and clearly an improvement to the formula of gw1, zombies had a bigger role, turf maps while not as well designed as gw1 were still fun to play and explore ie: Zombopolis or zomburbia, while the balance was crap I could still have fun winning or losing if I simply play well ( I'm gonna say it, I never had a problem with toxic brainz or electro pea, none mech imps were way more annoying), backyard was a true hub and it was way more fun than giddy park, bot matches were the best feature and best improvement and removing them from bfn was freaking stupid, once again more spawnables and 12v12 everywhere, super brains and imp just felt better in design, ability texture, and look, variants just felt more natural with a lore background then random legendary upgrades which are just watered down variants.Bfn- I freaking hate the argument that we shouldn't judge it because its a spinoff, well people its gotta be a GOOD spinoff first, I understand it's not gw3 but the watered down gamemodes and options really kill it for a lot of people, also getting rid of variants for balance and then making a 180 degree turn with legendary upgrades is disgraceful because it proves popcap can't commit to an idea, and oh boy we've had plenty of arguments on connection issues already, the fact we have to wait months after release for basic features that should be mandatory from the old games like ops is insulting and the fact that we as a community put up with it in the first place is disgraceful, but pve was cool though but of real no sustenance, and oh boy getting death threats for playing certain classes is fun.
GW1 - it was pure with very little glitching or mechanical abuse. Maybe it’s because of the modes I played but NEVER saw toxic people.
I highly disliked people insta-respawning just before I fragged them.
GW1 - a few new modes I loved including Soil Survivor and Taco Panic. Disliked the arrival of toxicity, though it was manageable. Miss the mechanics and better servers.
BfN - Battle Arena (non-ranked) was my favorite new mode since GW2 but toxicity has hit an all-time high for me and bunny hopping’s arrival is bothersome. The servers are the worst I’ve played in my entire life on all games. Since the last update, it feels like I’m on dial up internet.
- @JonnyTyler820 To me I find it so stupid that others keep complaining and comparing bfn to gw 1 and 2 and it’s nothing like it gameplay wise. Before anyone knew what bfn was about I had positive expectations of a new game rather it be a shooter like garden warfare or not and once we got are first taste of it people aka (children) weren’t happy about the design choices to not implement variants into this new take on the pvz shooter game and I was genuinely glad because I wanted a fresh new pvz shooter instead of the same stuff. Bfn isn’t like gw2 it’s similar but NOT the same so judging it base on gw is quite annoying. How I personally feel about the game though I think it’s fun on its own stand alone game, it has many issues just like other games and I understand that it’s a working progress. Gameplay wise I do like the sprinting, team up mechanics, the new characters and overall look of the game especially the main hub area but I myself don’t care for giddy park which is boring and the single player area which also boring and those are things i can see myself playing if I didn’t have internet or if I’m at my grandparents house but other than that I genuinely do like bfn as a stand alone game so please stop expecting this game to be the new successor to the pvz shooter franchise because it’s not and I really respect that.
Its completely legitimate and expected to compare and contrast games on a community forum related to a certain franchise.
That being said and staying on topic, a lot of the map layouts in GW1 and GW2 just seem better designed and more thought out.
The variants of the characters wasn't something to gloss over as a lot of their mains actually worked differently. You would have to learn how to play each variant in a different way which was always a nice challenge and at least made it feel like there were a ton of character options. Sticker packs and consumables worked so much better and there was something so oddly satisfying about opening those sticker packs.

It's a hard call for me. Despite issues in all 3 games, they're my favorite multiplayer shooters to date and I can't call one as head and shoulders above the others, even with the issues I feel BfN has.
I really enjoyed GW1 but when I first got it, it lacked game modes, voice chat was stuck on without PTT, and it was never well balanced (love zombie teams of all super commandos with the extra pellet upgrade), but it was fun, frantic, and has a ton of character. Besides the problems with super commando zombies a lot of the maps were dominated by sniper cacti as there were a lot of open lanes of fire on many maps and Chompers were frustrating to play as the zombie teams were dominated by foot soldier variants and it had a lot of rooftops for them to rocket up to. I loved the character of the maps even with the balance problems however, and some of those maps are among my favorite to this day; Cactus Canyon, Crash Course, and Driftwood Shores are some of my favorite maps ever. GW1 is great but then we got GW2.
When GW2 launched I loved it even more than first GW game, despite the 'Rose plague' and other serious issues. Being able to play either side in Ops or as attack/defense in TT (as oppsoed to only G&G), more classes, the backyard battleground, friendly to solo play, and so on, made it a more fun experience for me. It has my least favorite map in the series (Time Park), but also has some that I love such as; Frontline Flats and Zombopolis. A few changes were not as welcome as others, like how spikeweed looks and works as opposed to GW1, and certain variants were even more annoying than some from GW1 (like any detonation variant for example), but I spent a lot more time in GW2 than GW1; I have a bit over 300 in GW2 and 400 in BfN, but over 2400 in GW2.
BfN is such a mixed bag for me. For everything I love there's something that I dislike or find underwhelming. For example, while I love the idea of the upgrade system that allows us to have some creativity and variability in our builds, too many upgrades either feel almost required or just filler. I love having the new classes and look forward to seeing the creativity of new ones like Wizard and beyond (I'm really looking forward to Berry Bridage), but I also miss variants, although not as much as some, and some variants were just patently worse or better than the base class and other variants. I love the free roam regions and the idea behind them, but I find that there's no reason to go back once you hit 100% and the new maps for all modes aren't as fun as the ones from GW1 and 2; I don't dislike any of them, but only a few really excite me either. The new costumes and other customizations are often brilliant and I don't miss all the bling/infinite/scrumptious variants of the same costume but not a fan of how easy it is to empty the Reward-o-tron or the current business model. A few areas still really need work too (Ops and core functions spring first to mind), even if I do like BfN overall.
If I had a choice I'd make a hybrid of all 3 games and pull the best from them all and modify or dump the worst. It's hard for me to pick a favorite when I find pluses and minuses in all 3 games.
- @JonnyTyler820 GW2 is my all time fav, I like the fast pace and the distance between spawn and objective is reasonable.
I have never played GW1
BFN, not bad but the spawn points are god awful, TTK is too low for me, I always glitch out, the upgrades don't work, grinding for prize bulbs every month is just too exhausting However, the new characters are well thought out. It certainly doesn't compare to GW2, the gameplay is just not as fun.
