immortalize the game
Dear PopCap and EA team,
My name is Lorenzo, and I am writing because Plants vs. Zombies is a game I genuinely love. It means a lot to me, and I have been playing it since I was a child.
That is why I believe Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted has the potential to become much more than a remaster. I know some fans have been disappointed by the technical issues and the lack of new content, but I think there is still a real opportunity to turn things around.
I have three suggestions that I would love to see considered.
1. A level editor, like Super Mario Maker
Imagine being able to create your own PvZ levels and share them online. You could make a stage where the entire lawn is a swimming pool, or one where a Gargantuar shows up wearing a little rubber duck float. It sounds ridiculous, and that is exactly why it would fit PvZ so well.
Players could choose the environment, the plants, the zombies, and the waves. There could be five level lengths, ranging from one to five flags. Before publishing a level, the creator would have to beat it themselves to prove that it is actually possible to complete.
I think this feature alone could give the game an enormous amount of replay value. Instead of waiting for official updates, players would constantly have new levels to discover, create, and share. A good level editor could keep the community active for years.
2. A new world: Roof with Fog
I would also love to see a new world that combines rooftop mechanics with fog. It does not need to be revolutionary. It just needs to be well designed, with good level progression, balanced plants, and interesting zombies.
For plants, I imagine the Sun Bean, a mushroom catapult based on the Spore-shroom concept, a mushroom with selectable targets and area damage, Endurian, Boxer Cabbage, Fire Pepper as a catapult plant, and Iceberg Lettuce.
The zombies could be just as interesting: one that steals sunlight, a vampire that turns into a bat and changes lanes when its health gets low, a zombie wearing a brick helmet, and a very slow giant capable of crushing plants across three lanes.
These are just starting ideas, of course. The important thing is to introduce new strategies while keeping the simple, charming gameplay that made the original so good.
3. The original 2010 game, faithfully preserved
This one is especially important to me. I would love Replanted to include a separate mode that reproduces the original PC version of Plants vs. Zombies as faithfully as possible.
I mean the original graphics, resolution, menus, sounds, levels, gameplay, and progression, without the additional content and changes exclusive to Replanted. Not just an old graphics filter, but the actual classic experience, preserved inside the new game.
Some players want new content, while others simply want to play the game they remember. I think Replanted can serve both groups without forcing either one to give up what they love.
Why I believe this could be good for EA too
I understand that these ideas would take time and resources, especially the level editor. I am not expecting everything to arrive in a single update.
In fact, I think a gradual release would be the smartest approach. First, fix the technical problems and improve the current experience. Then, introduce new features over time, giving players more reasons to return, talk about the game, and recommend it to their friends.
A level editor could keep generating new content long after its release. A new world could bring back players who finished the original campaign years ago. And a faithful classic mode could attract people who want the original experience but would rather buy a modern release than search for an old version.
Together, these features could help Replanted continue attracting players long after launch, rather than relying only on the initial release or occasional sales. More returning players, more recommendations, and a stronger community could ultimately mean more sales and greater long-term revenue for EA.
I also want to make something clear: I am not asking to be paid for these ideas, and I am not looking for royalties or a job. I am offering these suggestions voluntarily, simply because I love this game and want to see it reach its full potential. I do not expect anything in return. I just hope the people responsible for its future will consider what fans would love to see.
I know I am just one fan, and I understand that not every suggestion will be possible. Still, I wanted to share these ideas because I believe Plants vs. Zombies deserves a version that preserves its past, expands its possibilities, and gives people reasons to keep playing for many years to come.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for everything your team has done to create a game that so many of us still love.
I really hope you will consider these ideas. I believe they could make a lot of fans happy and help make Replanted even more successful.
I would really appreciate a reply if you have the time.
Best regards,
Lorenzo Lacerda
