Need Help Starting PVZ Replanted 2 Player Adventure

need help i have a switch OLED and the player two press arrow button to join doesn't work.i have a controller with letters on it and other with arrows both dont work do I need to buy 2 more controllers?Also didn't get retro peashooter skin :/
