    I've also investigated this and actually the cactus in the original doesn't have the stems either. You just couldn't tell because of the low resolution (not even in the xbox version) so I don't think it's really a bug.

        I am! PvZ1 has always been my favorite game. I also feel Replanted is over hated too much.
