Versus mode balance is very confusing

Just went through a whole night of trying out vs mode with a friend on my switch 2 and figuring out the strategies and so far plants seem really weaker than the zombies (especially compared to ps3/360) the fact that zombies pick last is extremely strong, taking a surprise bungee zombie/miner/zomboni without the plant player getting to counter feels unfair and brains production is sooooo fast compared to suns. Putting down a squash always felt like a big expense while the opponent's only real restriction is the coolddown. Games where the zombies ended with over 1000 brains were pretty common (at least way more than it used to be) i don't know if the game will get any new update but if it ever does i'm begging you to do something about vs mode. Such a fun mode that's ruined by a few questionable balance changes.
