Cannot join friend in spades

I see my friend on my Friends list and she is playing Spades HD. There is a blue button that says "Join." I clicked on the button and that took me to the page where you choose to play with bots, join a game, Host a game. I clicked on "Join" and several tables showed up but none of them was my friend's table. Above that was a banner that said I didn't have any friends playing playing online. I went back to the home page and I see her on my list still playing spades and the blue button that says "Join" but I can't. What gives?
