WitchCeCe "It's always the player's fault. You can get a brand-new computer, and they will still tell you, it's your software, computer, laptop whatever."
I completely understand why you would feel this way. When answers seem to come back "check your browser, check your settings," it absolutely can feel like the blame always lands on the player. Here’s what matters most: Troubleshooting is maintenance, not blame. Nobody did anything wrong — not you, not Pogo, and not your computer.
🖥️ A New Computer Isn’t Finished — It’s Alive From the moment you unbox a computer, it’s not a static machine. It’s a living system that immediately plugs into an ecosystem of nonstop updates, patches, and optimizations. These aren't interruptions, they're what keeps your system healthy and secure. The hardware might be brand new, but the software begins integrating the second it boots.
Modern Gaming Rides on a Constantly Updating World
- Browsers update every 2–4 weeks, rolling out in waves by maker, region, device type, and in stages
- Device/OS updates arrive monthly
- Graphics drivers get fresh releases from manufacturers every few weeks (huge for online gaming)
- Security patches and system optimizations roll out quietly in the background daily to weekly
- Even internet routers need occasional cleaning and maintenance. Logs clear with a reboot, ISP updates arrive monthly, and firmware updates every few months.
All of that is happening all the time, on every machine, for every player.
Gaming sits on top of this entire moving ecosystem. It depends on browsers, drivers, operating systems, and network services, each evolving on its own schedule, each improving, each adapting to new standards and new threats. A computer isn't a "set it and forget it" device. It's a constantly evolving machine that needs regular attention — not because anything is wrong, but because that's how modern computing is designed now. Is it fun? No. But it does become easier to spot things once you know. I say this as a Club Pogo member of 15 years myself and someone who's learned a bit about computers along the way.

I've never gotten the Merge Academy reward either and complained about it several times. It's always the player's fault. You can get a brand new computer and they will still tell you, it's your software, computer, laptop whatever. I just assume I won't get it when that's one of the rewards and I'm never wrong. Sorry but no, they won't fix it. Sad.
