Expired timer in Canasta

When the opponent has left the game or is clearly no longer interested in playing the game (unless they are having a technical issue or personal issue that can explain why they aren't taking their turn) and the the timer expires but it doesn't populate the choice to extend or not to extend, what are you supposed to do? I have had many players run out of time to play their turn but instead of the EXTEND/DONT EXTEND buttons appearing, somehow, miraculously, they get a fresh timer and then they play. How are they able to do that? Is it just a glitch in the game? Because it happens more than you would think it to be just a glitch and is totally unfair.

This is a glitch in the games Every time it happens the player remaining loses rank points.  I have lost LOTS of rank points because you could not end the game when the timer ran out.

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to post and raise this topic up, this indeed is an interesting phenomenon 🔎

The probable reason is that the table was configured without a forfeit timer, which means that when the time expires, it will pause and then suddenly restart without the extend option appearing.

It is very considerate of you to highlight the reasons why some players may leave or take extended breaks due to technical or personal difficulties they may be facing on their side, not many players remember this or take this into consideration. Very kind of you!

I hope this explanation is beneficial, and I wish you great success in all your Canasta games. Take Care 🐈‍⬛
