It looks like your Firefox version may be a tad behind. The latest should be 79.0 which was released on July 28th. Can you try updating your Firefox version to see if it improves performance in the game?
If you're still having trouble seeing the pieces, please try another supported browser, such as Google Chrome, to see if it helps with the visibility issue.

I attempted to, but Firefox tells me I am up to date. Not sure how to proceed

Another thing you can try is to pull it up on another browser. How does it work with Chrome or Safari?

It looks like we may need to dig a bit deeper. Could you attach a PDF file of your System Report? You can save it as a PDF by selecting Print and then using the drop-down to select PDF instead of using your printer.
Additionally, would you be able to get a screenshot of what you're seeing?
