PWA for Pogo: Progressive Web Application

You may have seen or heard the term PWA come up around Pogo lately and wondered what on earth is that? You are not alone! This guide is here to explain and walk you through how to set it up, use it and even remove it. You do not need to be tech-savvy for this! Plus, its free and already built into your browser!

🤔 What Is a PWA?

PWA stands for Progressive Web Application

Imagine having a Pogo button sitting right on your device — just click it, login and play! No typing, no searching, no distractions. That is exactly what the PWA will do.

You just click one icon and Pogo opens up! No browser clutter, no extra steps. It feels much more like using a real app.

Here are some of the benefits players have noticed:

  • Pogo opens faster
  • It has its own dedicated window (no browser tabs getting in the way)
  • Easier to find and launch every day
  • Loads more smoothly on some devices
  • Fewer interruptions
  • Easy access, app‑like feel
  • Low storage use, Saves space on your device
  • More stable, fewer glitches and reloads

What You Need Before You Start

You just need:

  • A device (computer, tablet, or phone)
  • One of these browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari
  • Visit the Pogo website

Quick Tip: Chrome and Edge work best for installing Pogo as a PWA on a Windows computer or Android device. Safari is the one to use on Apple iPhones and iPads. Mac users can use Chrome, Edge, or Safari version 17 and newer.

How to Install the Pogo PWA on a Windows Computer

Using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge:

  • Open your browser and go to pogo.com
  • Look up at the very top of your browser, in the address bar (where you type web addresses). You should see a small computer screen icon with a down arrow — or a small "+" symbol — on the right side of the bar
  • Click that icon
  • A small box will pop up asking if you want to install Pogo — click "Install"

That's it! Pogo will now appear in your Start Menu and you can also pin it to your taskbar so it's always one click away

Quick Tip: Don't see the install icon in the address bar? Try the backup method: click the three dots (⋮) in the top right corner of your browser, look for "Install Pogo" or "Add to desktop" in the menu, and click it.

Still not seeing it? Try refreshing the page and waiting another 30 seconds. Also make sure your browser is fully up to date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this safe? Am I downloading something to my computer? Yes, it is completely safe! A PWA is not a traditional download. Nothing is installed the way regular software is. It is simply a shortcut that opens Pogo in its own window.

Q: What about Firefox, it's not mentioned? Firefox does support Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), but this feature has been in an experimental phase for them for several years now. For the time being, it is advisable to use Chrome, Edge, or Safari to ensure the optimal experience when installing a PWA. However, continue to watch Firefox as they modernize.

Q: How do I uninstall it if I change my mind? On Windows, right-click the Pogo icon and choose "Uninstall." On iPhone/iPad or Android, press and hold the icon on your home screen and select "Remove" or "Uninstall." On a Mac using Chrome or Edge, right-click the icon in the Dock and select "Uninstall." On Mac Safari, simply drag the icon out of the Dock (easy).

Q: I installed it — how do I open Pogo now? Just click the Pogo icon that was added to your desktop, taskbar, Start Menu, Dock, or home screen. It will open Pogo directly, then log in as you normally would to play! And yes, even with the desktop icon, you can log into Pogo as you normally would as well - having both features is possible. 🤓

Q: Do I need to install this to play games? No. You can keep playing Pogo the same way you always have. The PWA is just a handy shortcut that makes getting to your games a little faster and easier — it's an option, not a requirement.

Q: Will I lose my account, badges, or progress? Absolutely not. The PWA is just a different way of opening Pogo (you will still need to sign in as normal). Everything in your account stays exactly the same. This is very similar to a bookmark, but with its own icon!

Most modern websites offer a PWA for a cleaner experience. The next time you visit your favorite website, just search for it and install it the same way you did for the Pogo website!
