Thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay. Let's walk through together a couple of your concerns 🙂
"I'm not to computer savvy so when asked about which platform I'm using, I'm not sure!"
When asked what platform you’re using, that generally means are you playing on a tablet, phone, laptop or computer and which one? A platform is the type of device or operating system you’re using.
So, you answered correctly! You are using a Kindle Fire, have not downloaded any other browsers so this lets me know you are using: A Kindle Fire and probably with the default browser for those devices known as Silk.
Platform = The operating system / device type
Examples:
- Windows
- macOS
- Linux
- Fire OS (Kindle Fire)
- iOS / Android
Browser = The app you use to view websites
Examples:
- Edge
- Chrome
- Safari
- Silk (on Kindle Fire)
Both require maintenance, updating and cleaning due to the constantly evolving nature of the internet/technology.
Updates for our browsers and devices not only address issues but also enhance performance and safeguard our devices against security vulnerabilities, to ensure everything operates as intended.
"I'm not wanting to download other programs such as Chrome etc.... I don't want to add viruses or malware to my reader."
Because you’re using a Kindle Fire, you would download things through the Amazon Appstore. That’s the official store for Kindle devices, and it’s the safest place to get apps.
However, you make a point that matters so very much - "to my reader". A Kindle Fire is primarily designed as a reader, and that’s not just a casual description.
The Kindle Fire is built first and foremost as a reading device, and Amazon designed it around that purpose. It’s essentially a Kindle e‑reader with some extra tablet features added on. That means it’s great for books, magazines, and Amazon apps, and it works well for light browsing, streaming, and simple games. But it isn’t meant to handle high‑performance web‑based games, so some Pogo games may not run as smoothly on it at times.
🦉 The best analogy I can give is it's like trying to run a full-service restaurant using only a microwave. The microwave works great for simple meals, but it isn’t built for everything a restaurant may need to cook.
Is it possible? Yes, but we need to give it the best possible environment to perform. It can run many Pogo games, but it has limitations. Keeping it updated, clearing Silk’s cache, and restarting it regularly gives it the best chance to perform well. However, downloading another browser won’t help, because the device itself isn’t built for the more demanding gaming.
Steps to keep a Kindle Fire running at its best!
These are simple, safe steps, nothing technical, nothing risky.
Keep Fire OS updated - This ensures the device has the latest fixes and improvements.
Steps:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen
- Tap Settings
- Tap Device Options
- Tap System Updates
- Tap Check for Updates
- If an update is available, install it.
Keep the Silk browser updated - Silk updates automatically through the Amazon Appstore, but checking manually helps.
Steps:
- Open the Amazon Appstore
- Tap the Menu (three lines)
- Tap App Updates
- Look for Silk Browser and update if available
Clear Silk’s cache - This removes old website data that can slow things down or cause games not to load.
Steps:
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps & Notifications
- Tap Manage All Applications
- Find and tap Silk Browser
- Tap Storage
- Tap Clear Cache
- (Important: Clear Cache is safe — it does not delete passwords or bookmarks.)
Restart the device regularly - A simple restart clears temporary memory and helps performance.
Steps:
- Hold the Power button
- Tap Restart
Close unused tabs in Silk - Too many open tabs can slow the browser down.
Steps:
- Open Silk
- Tap the tabs icon
- Close any tabs you don’t need
These troubleshooting steps are very basic and are a part of regular maintenance.
I should also mention there are additional steps you can take to make sure your Kindle Fire runs at its best. You might find it helpful to watch a short YouTube video about keeping your Kindle Fire clean and efficient. There are a variety of easy, beginner-friendly tutorials available that walk you through tasks like clearing up space, managing apps, and improving overall performance.
"I also like Matching Moments, Mahjong Sanctuary where you work to build stuff up like the zoo. I miss Quinn's Aquarium as I was enjoying building the aquariums. Never have problems with those games or the regular Solitaire games."
Those games are fun! Each game on Pogo is designed differently and at times by different developers to offer us a wider variety of games.
I truly understand you and many, many others miss Quinns Aquarium. This particular game was developed by a company called Jolly Bear Games and Pogo hosted the game. Neither Pogo nor Jolly Bear Games have shared the exact reason why Quinn’s Aquarium ended on Pogo, but it was likely one of those difficult decisions made for the long‑term good for both companies. Whatever the reason, it wasn’t a choice made lightly.
Hope this helps with understanding and thank you kindly for taking the time to read this! 🌷🐈⬛
