You'll still get the green points which rank you up for unlocking new Stores.
But I would agree. I reached my cap last week and it made the game almost pointless. As long as you have weekly & bonus assignments left you should be able to carry on. Also, if you have Golden Tickets left you should be able to carry on using them too.
When I reach my cap this time I'll probably stop playing.
