We have been seeing a fair amount of performance issues across all club members all types of devices since the December snow flake update in general. When we are actually in a war though it gets about 2X worse.
This past week is the first time people were talking about outright force killing and restarting the app - just to get the war repairs to work because they were "stuck" in a perpetual 5 minutes. And at least half my club have opened support tickets, we've all been told the same thing... our devices are too slow or too old (not sure how my gaming tablet fits that definition - but that is all support will ever tell any of us).... before the December update when in war, there were performance problems, but most of could muddle through them.
At this point, the performance/lag - is so bad, people can't scroll through a store without buying something and watching the screen freezes for several seconds at a time. Or just periodically the whole app stops for 3 to 5 minutes.. then if on apple crashes, and if on android eventually recovers.
So like I said... dunno how any of you are playing war... at one point we were in top 200 - but at this point, none of us play much anymore. It's more like - check in 1 or 2 times a week, see if any updates have made the game playable again... occasionally someone in my club really wants to get his CoM war points, so we start a war, but none of us really take it seriously anymore.
Too bad, been playing this game for over 2 years now, and in the past 2 months, they've made it unplayable for nearly everyone in my club.
