Club wars - Feedback

I will be leaving the game if this war thing continues. As others have stated, therea are enough war games out there. EA does not need to destroy this game by bringing war into it.

Are you able to respond to questions and concerns raised in the Club Wars Feedback thread/topic?

What happens to the issues that players raise on this site?  How do we know if we've been heard, or if actions are being taken to address concerns?

I was thinking that you would be providing the occasional response, saying thank you, and advising about what is being done (or not done) to address the comments that players are making.  Is this not your role?  Can you clarify what your role is, as the author of the topic?

We are looking for some answers and some indication of when fixes might be coming.  For me, I am especially concerned about the opponents that they system matches us with.  When we are matched with opponents that don't fight back and don't repair, the event is not fun at all.

Please let me know if this is the right place to be bringing forward concerns and, most importantly, where is the place where we can eventually get some answers back?

Mai, it would be very much appreciated to hear from you, or from anyone else at EA, about what is happening?  Are improvements being developed?  Can you tell us a bit about what you are working on, even if only in a general sense?  Can you give us some idea about how long changes will take until an game update is implemented?  Can we get anything back at all, or is this just a one-way discussion...?

If this is not the right place, the please tell us if there is a better place to talk to EA.

In the spirit of providing feedback that will hopefully be read and contemplated by the game developers, now that our club is on War #4 here are some observations and suggestions about club wars:

• Please fix matchmaking.  We have fought four wars, and every opponent has been completely inactive.  I honestly can't give you extensive feedback about club wars because we have no idea what a real battle looks like.  We fight.  Our opponent sits there for 2 days and does nothing except take damage until all shields are up.  How am I supposed to give you feedback of any depth when your event is so poorly executed thanks to HORRIBLE MATCHMAKING?
• Assuming that this is just the way it is going to be, that there are a small number of active clubs and presumably thousands of inactive clubs that will never even fire a shot or repair, then here are some suggestions:
  • Put shields on a timer.  If the active battle stage of war is 1.5 days or 36 hours, then require shields to drop at least every 12 hours.  Would let us get 3x the number of attacks in on a completely inactive enemy as we currently do.  Which would let us complete more war assignments in Contest of Mayors.  Would also let more club members earn war chests.
  • By putting shields on a timer, it is a small punishment of sorts for those inactive clubs who refuse to repair cities.  They lose the chance to repair, and earn cheap and easy war items.  This is good and fitting punishment for them being so lame.
  • Please, please, please, PLEASE don't allow war assignments to be allocated when a club is not involved in an active war.  This is total garbage game design.  I am beside myself to comprehend that this was not identified as a issue during beta testing.

As you can tell, I'm extremely frustrated.  This is a fun game, and this new event has lots of great promise, if a few key blunders could be addressed.  We can only hope fixes are being developed, but as communication is so poor, we are left to wonder... and to have blind faith...

First of all, I would like to ask you to remember to respect each others opinions. Some of you like this new feature, some of you don't, and that's fine - it's what happens with everything in life, so please, don't turn this into a fight between yourselves.

I won't be answering each of your posts, but I can assure you each and every one of them are being read. The opponents are way too unbalanced. Please make this a high priority issue to fix.

A balanced war would be much more interesting and the players would be more motivated in participating in it.

At the moment my club is fighting an inactive club (10,000 : 0), in the previous wars we had 3 times more points than our opponents.

It's not possible to remove members or bulldoze buildings during a war.

Last war we had a member who didn't contribute anything (and didn't respond to chat messages) but constantly snatched items from my depot that were meant for other members.

Community Managers/EA Developers/EA,

EA has allowed the game developers to take this "cash cow" down a path of uncertainty. If I were a company officer I would be asking a lot of questions right now.

Negative feedback on this topic and as usual you are fumbling ahead by issuing in-game messages asking "why are we not participating in this raging war". Our Mayors club does not want this nor will we participate, so don't force us.

Oh I'm sorry, my bad, that's right you don't listen to the people that support your bottom line......

Instead of complaining here on a "voice-less" forum, I am going to the nearest investment firm to purchase at least one common share of stock in EA. There will be a voice for me there.

Maybe additional time could be added to the War refresh if a club with too many inactive players activates the War process only to abuse the privlage of entering the battlefield by not participating? If possible additional time could be compounded for every battle without a minimum scoring ablitity. Or some type of score balancing that would force the battle to end, declare a winner based on score, boost rewards for the active club so the time invested would be worth while and then allow the active clubs to bypass the refrsh timer to search for a future battle.

This is getting a bit out of hand. Clubs and club leaders should be held accountable for constantly activating the war process without the ability to compete. I understand that matchmaking takes time to accumulate club scoring in order to correctly match a battle but I don't feel that is the reasoning for the issue. There are too many clubs that continue to enter the battlefield and then do nothing.

For example in the last battle I was involved with the other club didn't have any VP or senior members as all players were placed on the battle field and I was able to go through them all. The president who was the only member able to start the war process didn't contribute at all. Because the President in this instance was the only player on their team able to start the war process I feel he/she should be held accountable for abusing our teams time. Most of us stopped pounding on them after only a couple of hours and due to the shields going up our ability to add to our individual score was reduced further limiting rewards.

Cool, fun concept if you're in a very active club.  Here are my beefs.

1) Matchmaking.  On our fourth war and finally have a group that is fighting back.  Still, it's 54k to 22k and the opponent isn't bothering to leave the shield.  

2) Points.  It seems inconceivable that I'd ever get the top chests.  It requires 12K.  I am very active and have managed 8k with four hours remaining.  

3) Resource drain.  My biggest gripe is probably in some ways the lamest but I make no money and barely compete in the contest of mayors.  My resources all go to procuring war items which is novel for now, but it will get old fast.  This will be the reason I leave the game.  

I've waited to give the Club Wars a few goes before providing feedback, and I think it's a big mistake to have added it to the game.

I've been playing for over a year, Level 53, 2 million plus population. Our club has evolved over time, but includes people from the USA, UK and Japan. I really enjoy the CoM and the club members cooperate really well to help each other out, and we consistently get the third chest reward. We're also good at helping other members out with expansions. 

The Club Wars seems counter to everything that the game is based on - buildit not destroyit.  I know we have the Vu disasters but I only ever use them as part of the challenges.

It seems a strange philosophy to shoe horn in a war element into an existing game when competitors have it as the core of their game, and therefore will always be better.  Why are EA using an existing successful game with a different philosophy to compete in that market ? Make a new game.

The main downside is that my Club is now split down the middle by those who like the Wars and those who hate them. We've tried to all participate and complete both CoM and a War, but it's too time consuming to do both. The result is that we've dropped a reward level in the CoM, which for those members who put in the time is very disappointing.

if Club Wars continues in the game, I may stop playing, or at least play less.

The developers should have concentrated on solving and improving existing elements of the game.....allow trade of omega supplies between players.....greater variation in epic building design......greater variety of design in Paris, London & Tokyo buildings.....and how about allowing players to actually trade real estate....
