Hard Hats Disappearing

I was collecting items for a building upgrade when suddenly, the hard hat above the building disappeared. This is not the first time that this has happened, and is extremly infuriating!! This is the type of stuff that makes me want to quit this game. Other people seem to be having the exact same issue. Thank you.
