Pink Pixelated Frozen Screen Bug
The game has severe graphical glitches. The background shows black and pink checkerboard patterns, and most of the buildings and structures appear completely white, losing all textures. Some menus and icons still display normally, but the overall screen looks broken, as if the textures failed to load.
Every time this happens, I have to close and reopen the game to continue playing, but after only a few minutes the issue comes back. This occurred many times today, making the game nearly unplayable. My phone is an iPhone 11, and it still has plenty of storage space. This issue kept happening repeatedly throughout yesterday.

Hi Mayors,
Thanks for sharing this with us. We have been keeping an eye on these reports and have flagged this with the studio, so it’s on our radar. We’ve grouped together similar reports on this, so all the info is together in one spot. And thank you to everyone who’s shared their experience and included information in your posts. We always appreciate any information you can share when issues like this crop up for you, especially these few details:
- Device model (e.g.: iPad 10th gen, iPhone 13, etc.)
- iOS version
- Game version
- What you were doing when it happened (example: entering edit mode, upgrading roads, placing a building)
- Whether it happens every time or every now and again
- Does troubleshooting help to resolve it temporarily, or not at all?
For those who haven’t tried it yet, iPhone and iPad troubleshooting steps can sometimes help with visual bugs and glitches. Please give these few steps a try:
- Fully close SimCity BuildIt and any other apps, then restart your device.
- Please make sure your city is saved first by linking your game account, so you do not risk losing progress. Use this guide to learn how to back up your game: How to save progress by linking your account.
- Confirm both iOS and SimCity BuildIt are fully up to date.
- Check available storage. Low free space can cause performance issues.
- Try loading into the same city on another Apple device (after signing in) and see whether it still happens there
A quick note on older devices: SCBI can be too demanding for older devices to run, and issues like this can show up more easily on them. Troubleshooting may help temporarily, but ultimately, aging devices will struggle to run it smoothly.
Thanks again for your patience. We are here and listening.
