Re: Club wars - Feedback

There needs to be a way to bring balance back to wars.  Once you approach the top of the leaderboard, nobody fights.  They get the slimmest of mathematical advantages and stay bubbled.  In fact, those are the only wars our club has ever lost.  They are long, boring events that reward nobody and take away from the spirit of club wars.

I propose that there always be at least one target up.  If a club decides to stay bubbled, the city that has been bubbled longest automatically repairs and unshields.  This will keep the fight going and shake things up for these teams that win by blocking active clubs constantly.

I agree wholeheartedly with your frustration, I called it cowardly and got called pathetic for it...but I’m not sad,  so I have learned now to call it cowardly and pathetic. I think it’s probably up to the team to make sure you have one available, preferably an inactive member (at least that’s what I’ve been told - twice; bubble hiders are kind of sensitive).

I have proposed an 18 hour window for folks who launched an attack to fix their city or it would be automatically fixed (no war items awarded) and the bubble would be removed. The logic behind 18 hours takes into consideration that you may be competing with someone from another part of the world and considers sleep and work/school time - it’s not ideal, but it’s fair for all parties. At least it’s better than what we currently have.

Hey Modern Thinker, great to see you. I agree if everyone is in the same time zone - but unfortunately they aren’t. That’s why I proposed 18 hours and you get to attack them twice but only for folks that launched an attack. It’s far from perfect, but it’s fair. 

Quick question, have you ever seen or heard of anyone being attacked while in the bubble? It happened to us yesterday, I was in the bubble or dome and thought I was hit (but was not sure) but the 2nd and 3rd time there was no doubt. I said nothing, didn’t want to upset our guys...but privately shared it with one of our VP’s after the war and the same thing happened to him at about the same time. It was a tight game and I think we were slightly ahead (8 vs. 17 - yes we were outmanned again) when it happened. No complaints, no tears - they won by 2k, and in all honesty I do not think their collective team had any idea of what happened and I congratulate them on their victory - but they know 8 folks took them to the limit and yes my guys laughed and enjoyed the competition.

PV: I've heard of it (attacked while in the bubble), but not seen it first-hand.

Even though it may be considered a smart strategy, EA has ruled that feeder cities are not legal. I pressed the issue because my guys were prepared to level the playing field so to speak and I wanted to make sure we stayed within the rules. Personally it doesn’t matter to me (other than the ruling) - I can barely maintain one city.

That’s great to hear, I didn’t think you had any as it appeared you were simply looking at it as a strategy. Just a quick note the city level is not necessarily a good measure of time or experience as leveling up is not difficult to do if that’s a person’s goal. You’ve been fortunate not to experience cheating because you’re well within the level and I hope you and your team never do.

J6nicel and I have unfortunately seen it first hand and quite frankly in our case, I didn’t report it because I thought it was a rogue member and it happened so fast I had no credible evidence - why deny their club members the celebration they earned, we celebrated our effort as we were totally outmanned and kept it within 2k in spite of the cheats. At the end of the day it’s not about winning or losing (trust me I want to win and will fight you to the bitter end) but it’s about teamwork, effort, laughter, and fellowship...when somebody cheats they deny themselves the real joy. Over the years I’ve had my share of great victories and bitter defeats, but what you remember are not the trophies and the awards but the people you competed with, the effort you expended and the unshakable knowledge that you were a good steward of the game.

As a Club President in this game you’re are responsible to provide a safe and encouraging environment for your members and the blantant cheating by others does not mesh well with that goal. So if there is credible evidence please report the transgressions so teams that play within the rules can compete with each other and figuratively shake each other’s hands and thank them for bringing out your best effort.

We did not report the team as we had no credible evidence. I absolutely agree with you, this is a city building game first and foremost and I’m afraid to many new folks are so caught up in CoM and war games they miss the true greatness of the game EA purchased.

The suggestion is great, our folks prepare what they think they’ll need and some extra for their neighbors - unfortunately the demand changes every battle so forecasting is a challenge.

We just played a top 25 team that had 25 players each use magnets and only magnets for the whole war.  The 25 of them must have fired magnets 3x each 10x each.  So how many is that?  750 magnets?  So they had 1500 hydrants.

No, that is not something they reasonably achieve during 12 hour prep and during the 36 hours of attacking.

They likely:

1) farm feeder cities

2) join other clubs during the 12 hour gap between battles and steal all their hydrants and then leave

3) cheat in any variety of ways

Perhaps they do all 3.  Thanks for the wild west, EA.  Why anyone would pay for cards to play a game that is so easy to cheat at, is beyond me.

Yes, it's often better to enjoy casual play.  Trying to be top in the world is more like a full time job.  And requires either ridiculous spending of real money, or cheating.

I forgot to mention setting of alarms.  Make sure you set alarms so that you fire your energy every 3h.

Every 3h not sufficient actually, set alarms for at least 2h 45m so you have some time to repair your cities first.  Can't let a single energy go capped, after all.

To recap: 1) spend; 2) have feeder cities; 3) steal from others; 4) cheat; and 5) set alarms.

There, now you're ready to be a top 50 club.

Hi. We have just finished playing “God’s of war” and lost by 227,000 points to 96,000. All of our cities are much bigger than theirs and 23 of our mayors took part. They used 300 magnet attacked in the first 15 hours, that’s 600 hydrants. I have been two wars without seeing a hydrant recently, and most I have had is about 17 ready for a war. My city is 3.6million, most of theirs was under 300k population. In the end I was hit by 40 magnet attacks, 80hydrants needed, they all used this attack to get you down to 1 in just 6 energy. It can only be a cheat, and nothing else.

Totally Agree With This Post - we are being killed by Hackers in Club Wars. Their favorite weapon is Level 10 Magnetism (that's 4,290 points per 12 energy units). Their second favorite weapon is Level 10 Movie Monster. We have also encountered clubs with cities where every type of disaster they use is at Level 10. There's no way that the disaster cards for any Level 10 disaster, let alone for multiple disasters, could have been fairly acquired in the time since these (second generation especially) disasters were released - even by buying them from weekly Purple Treasure Chests. There are two changes that EA could make to help out non-hackers in Club Wars ...

⚽ allow us to activate our own shields ourselves (even if we still have energy) this would allow us to conduct "Hit-And-Run" style attacks and hide from hackers with Level 10 disasters

🏈 allow us to attach our own cities (so-called "Friendly-Fire" attacks - for no points of course) - so we can remove non-contributing cities - which only give opposing hackers free points
